Did you happen to run a silver new 5.0 mustang lately in your 600? The race is been described over at svtperformance.com and he thinks it was you. You are welcome to use my id and password to jump in the post and comment.

I'll take a look.... Some dude in a silver mustang with a whipple did just track me down on youtube.... I'll give the thread a read...
We certainly didn't race. He was behind me on a one lane road, and I gave the car a 3/4 throttle 4 second dash.....I tried to make a little room between me and the car on front of me, to do a short WOT burst, to see what's up, but I couldn't.
Seems like a nice guy in the messages he sent me. His 12 year old son apparently saw my car last week and was video taping it as I was driving....

Ok, just read it. Seems like there was only a couple of them them were talking crap. No biggy, it just one more case of the uninformed masses. Seems like once chawkins educated them a little bit on the platform, they realized that this wasn't daddy's ole Benz.
I'm used to it. We're all gear heads, regardless of vehicle driven. I'll invite him out to our next MIR rental, and do a heads-up race and video it, for them to have a proper barometer.
I'll keep an eye on that thread....thanks for the head's up.

Little off topic, had a new 5.0 Stang try to rev down on me, but had my kid in the back and public road with traffic, so no go regardless. Anyhow, he tapped twice then I heard his buddy say ,"oh **** dude, Kompressor, $uck that." They just let me cruise away. I just smiled a little while the Thomas the Train tune was playing. LOL. Imagine if it said V12BiTurbo.

Oddly enough, the very next day after this encounter, he was behind me again. But this time, I was in the Rover. Our commuting path seperates in almost opposite directions but he followed me about 7 or 8 miles out of his way, no doubt in search of the V12. Little did he know, that was me in the Rover. Well, later that night I got a YouTube message asking about my car, and was it me etc...
When I confirmed it was me, he was very complimentary and mentioned that his young son had seen me on a different day and was excited by the car. I was actually flattered that he went to such lengths to search me out. Turns out, we work very close to each other, so I'll certainly see him again.
I'm going to offer to have him and his son meet up with me. I'll let the kid take some pics in the driver seat, drop the top and rev the motor. While such things seem boring to many of us on here, I think a 12 year old kid would love it. As a son of an ex NHRA racer, and father of 2 young boys myself, I'd love to do anything I can to keep the gearhead dream alive. I was afforded the opportunity to see and be around some very cool stuff as a child. Could you imagine how neat it was to have Bunny Burkett know you by name and let you sit in her alcohol funny car? So if some stranger let me sit in his Lamborghini Countach when I was 12, it would have been something I'd remember for a lifetime. Always pay it forward if you get a chance to...
Although, some guy just posted saying SL600s are slow. While my car isn't close to being considered as one of the quickest street cars in the area, its certsainly not slow. I'm sure some of those mustangs over there would embarrass me, but they better be a 10 second car just to be in the conversation.
I really, really love this car.

I still remember your thread and how long it took you to find your creampuff. Which you ended up getting in/near Chicago and driving it back to DMV. Also remember when I saw it at one of the EC tune sessions in Chantilly VA. Car has gone through a transformation in the few years you've had it.

Yes sir. I certainly remember meeting you. You only had the E500 then, if memory serves. But yes, I flew out the Chicago in the morning, and was back in my bed in Maryland by midnight. What a fun drive back that was.
I just posted up a reply over there, introducing myself. Let's see how that goes...

Clay those guys over at svtperformance.com are a lot younger than us and are absolute die hard bleed blue guys. Don't expect to get any reasoning out of them. They are true gear heads though, so let the games begin, on a side note, send Marcus over there

At the end of the day, none of it matters. Hopefully the OP over there turns out to be a cool dude, and we have another person that does the MIR rentals with us. After seeing the nasty E55s show up, like BTs, maybe, just maybe we can convert him.

Great job posting over there Clayton. I would have expected a different reaction from the masses. Most were very respectful and impressed. My favorite comment I read was: "Holy novel Batman".
