the kit comes with the cooling and fueling mods and larger TB so thats addressed... a 3.0 s/c you should see 600whp without issue...... stock internals should be fine as people have already pushed them close to that already with 200MM pulleys.

Ok, here's a quick estimate

-3.0 sc $3k
-ic with by pass valve $1.5
-fuel rail $500
-injector $1k
-82mm tb $1k

Those alone are already at $7k!! Stop dreaming, it'll be easily $10k+.

The one thing in this package that got my attention is how they got away without the sc clutch. If we can eleminate the sc clutch on our engine we can gain some substantial hp by going to a lighter and much smaller sc pulley.

I still think this will worth for NA engine not for already SC engine. As far for W210 55 only worth $12K not going to spend $15k for the SC kit. Its more sense for 63NA engine and it might kick *** the new 55TT.

I don't think any newbe wanna pay $10-15k for extra 100whp. No way adding 200whp.

Would I have to revert back to the stock crank pulley if I were to install this kit?

Have you seen any blown motor threads around here? Good luck with 600+ whp with stock pistons on pump gas. If you get any detonation you can kiss your motor good bye. Hope you have a good tuner, very rare in the Mb business.

same thing happens to people with stock motors, many a cylinder #8 gone lean on stock cars documented... doesnt matter what pistons you have, if you go lean bad and detonation its gonna blow your motor... more of a fueling issue than piston design

guess no one should shoot for over 500whp then cuz someone said the pistons suck... everyone take your pulleys off until you build your bottom end ..game over our engines cant handle it

This is so sick. I can't imagine how fast some E55s out there are going to be now.

I was just sharing my experiences. I love to see people pushing the limits and I'm glad Weistec is doing this. Should be some awesome results. But to think that our pistons are fine with anything we throw at them is just naive. If anything I encourage innovation and try to help others whenever I can. Sorry for derailing the thread, back on topic

no worries.. and for the record i dont think we can throw anything at our pistons, but i do think there is a threshold and not sure we have reached it yet at 500-600whp to where a bottom end upgrade is necessary.... would it help? sure but i dont think its mandatory on 500-600hp 5.5L engine built for F/I

plenty of 1.8L and 2.7L audi engines that came 200awhp stock are running around at 400-500 awhp with stock internals so if they can do it, i think 5.5L f/i engine that come with 400whp stock can handle 500-600whp without exploding after a few miles

I am willing to lend weistec my car for testing

1990 300ce supercharged and intercooled
The other thing to consider hear is the massive torque down low. That is a killer on these engines. I think that the issue is that the ring lands just break. I have had several 55 motors apart both n/a with kleemann blowers and 55k engines and the initial failure is always the same. The same happened with my stock pistons. The rings are also very low tension for low friction on the coated cylinder walls. Some of the failures can be attributed to tuning faults and some to fuel supply issues but I have seen quite a few that were not hot and just gave up. Could the bottom end hold 600whp or a little more? Maybe? But for how long. The guys that have gone for these numbers have been through more than one engine. The bottom line is as said doing this upgrade for 100 hp is not what I would think people were after. If you are going with a 3.0l blower then I would be putting sleeves and pistons in and probably rods to go for more.

I have seen that a few times. The pistons are good for regular production. Last forever. They do not expand and contract very much at all. Not so good if you want to build up really big though. I figure around 70-75 hp per cylinder is max if you want it to survive very long.

That would be crank hp numbers buddy. You said 600whp. Big difference. Either way we will see how things go
