Exactly what you think...bolt came loose pulley and keyway came off aswell...just regular driving.
Dont know exactly what caused it because it was on there good and had zero wobble...all I know is that they better repair it all correctly...

Is that oil or coolant? Did the bolt back out? How long had it been on for? Did they use a fresh bolt? Torque it correctly?
Who did the install? I've had my ASP180 for nearly a year with 0 issues what so ever.

I was worried when we spoke on the phone with your indy. Did you watch them torque it down, I mean really torque it down, then torque angle it 90degrees? Seen a few here come off down the block. I hope the engine and pulley are OK, have you inspected?

Yep, you said you were not going to go WOT until your tune. 100% of the time it is the install buddy. It is a stretch bolt, it must be torqued and then torque angled to stretch which locks it onto the crank. Check that crank stat, this could hurt. Sorry for this.

Yes, that is the big one and they need a good sized tree trunk (breaker bar) to do it. The bolt must stretch, otherwise it will come right out. The keyway is only for alignment, the torque is what locks the crank down.

Of course they will deny it....what shop would admit?
Bottom line is it wasn't torqued down properly...period bro.
I have literally had a half dozen pulleys on my car and my master tech with his buddies and huge breaker bars.....she never has come off.
I think sometimes techs are scared to go ape-sheet on those bolts in fear of breakage. It just won't.
My tech had a big buddy of his on one long pipe and him on the other. It scared the crap outta me but she was nice and snug and problem free.
****wanted to edit to add something. If they didn't have keyway aligned and DID crank to specs then same result will happen. They were cranking the pulley to specs against the actual keyway itself and once rocked off that keyway, she is loose and waiting to fly off like a 10lb frisbee.

Also since I was just cruising I didnt notice immediately...think I need a new thermostat because it was over heating?

Wow...this sucks so bad. I remember when this happened to me it was such a disappointment because it made a simple install turn into a huge ordeal. Thankfully my DIY approached has worked like a charm and saved me hundreds if not thousands of dollars.

I hope they didn't torque it to 275lbs ft plus 90 since that would have been your problem. The bolt will shear off at that kind of torque. It should have been closer to 150 lbs ft or 200NM.

Oh and torquing to that will NOT shear the crank bolt.

Yeah seeing all of these posts makes me nervous. Make stay away from pullies. I live in upstate NY and there's no reputable benz peeps close by. I do all my other installs myself in the garage but this is frightening me. May have to stay in the stock pulley crew unless I wanna head down to the city and pay a grip for an install.
