Chrysler ext warranty
I have the Chrysler ext. warranty and need to do valve gasket and water pump. I called and spoke to a representative and told me that i can do the work in Mercedes or indy shop. Well, when i was in the indy shop and try to call Chrysler, they refuse because the job has to be done by Mercedes or Chrysler. I got transfer like 5 times and every time i have to repeat again the whole story. Why its so difficult with Chrysler ? sounds like they try to avoid. I spoke to different people and everybody has different story. I can't imagine one told me Indy shop OK and other said no when I was in the shop and the car is already in the process. Any one who has Chrysler ext warranty has done work in Indy or only Mercedes dealer ?
Also my mechanic told me that my upper oil pan is leaking and takes about 6 hours to do. Anybody has this issue before ?
Thanks.

well if chrysler is covering the costs, i would just take to mb dealer. Maybe MB dealer will find more problems and fix those as well under the chrylser warranty

The reason i did my job in the indy shop because i need the Kleemann header install. And yes, its done. The car sounds much louder since the primary cat delete. I put a black ceramic coat on the header before install. Only took 10 minutes drive, the coat is gone ! they just peel off so imagine how hot is the header. I hope i take the car to the dealer and they won't complain about the after market header installed.

Well i dont think having headers is going to cause issues with the valve cover coverage. I know what you mean. I have a 2yo and cant get anything done. Only when he naps things get done carwise

Depends on the work required and your SA
In all the 4+ occasions I've used it, they only sent someone to verify once and that was because it was a thump on speed bumps for which my SA was trying to get 2 rear struts. Other than that, all other work has been approved over the phone(same day).

All the work I've had done, has been covered flawlessly by Chrysler Service Contracts. It has all been done by an MB dealership service dept. I've owed my deductible, any relevant fluids, and PA taxes - CSC has paid the difference.
They've never sent an inspector AFAIK. They approve and pay for the repairs over the phone (they give the dealership a CC to use). Your SA deals with them directly (in my experience)... I've never had to make any calls or haggle over anything.
I wouldn't go looking for BS to replace, but for legitimate repairs, it's about as good as it gets. MB loaner while the work is done, and come back to owe a couple hundred bucks on what is typically an overall four-figure repair bill.

Re: Chrysler Warrantee
I have nothing but positive to say about the Chrysler warranty on my SL. Never had a problem, and they pay for everything covered; I pay my deductable. My SA sais they are very professional to deal with. Wish they still offered warrantys for us.
But, I ALWAYS have my dealer work with them as they want either a Mercedes or Chrysler dealer doing the work.

My most recent experience was less than positive. They have gotten stingy on labor and seemed to take a few days to approve repairs and provide credit card numbers for payment.
Seems they are getting bent over by all the MB owners who purchased these things.

OK, OT, but I understand kids pretty well. 5 year old, 18 month old twins and another set of twins coming in about 6 weeks
I barely get out of the house.

Only 2 visits with my Chrysler warranty, first time was with an indy and they had no issues on repair authorization or payment.
Second trip recently for a couple small issues Chrysler told the indy that I had to take it to an MB dealer for inspection. I just paid the indy.
Guess from here forward I'll be at the MB dealer

Yes, I was also very surprised. They also told me that they will pay by credit card.

I was also told indy shop no problem and I also pay my indy shop myself for the valve cover, water pump for only $500 + water pump material so total only $840. I could not believe Chrysler refused to pay only $840. So my indy also told me my upper oil pan has some leaking but not major. I will visit dealer next time.

Similar experiences here. I won't go into details, but the first time I had a covered repair, they covered work at my indy without a hassle. The next time at my indy they sent an inspector who was slow to respond and a PITA to work with, but eventually covered the repair. The last time, they claimed the contract *requires* service at an MB dealer (not true, BTW), and after arguing for a couple of days, I took it to MB for the work.

From my understanding they changed their policy beginning Jan. 2011. Originally independant shops were allow to complete repairs which was much more convenient for me having a great guy 5 mins away. This changed to better protect us, so they say. They want us to use dealers or chainstore type of repair centers so in the case of a troubled repair far from home, the car can be fixed else where. For example, a MB dealer 2 hrs away is still a MB dealer, so there is no finger pointing with Chrysler contract services forced to pay twice or pay for a tow back to the indy shop. I guess the warranty company feels this is cost effective, or they got burned with indy shops, since the indy shops are always cheaper than dealers. So its dealers or chain type repair centers now.
