![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Drove the car on Friday, went to open my trunk today (Monday) and nothing.. tried unlocking the car, nothing... starting it, nothing!
Noticed that the buttons around the hazard light are barely lit.. and stay that way.
Did some searching for possible causes.. battery, alternator.. but just not sure. Not even able to open the trunk to get the battery tested/charged.
Need your help... closest MB dealer is 30 miles away.

+1 I changed my battery 3 weeks ago cost $130 bought it in Autozone. I called AAA and they can test the battery voltage and appear to be the battery. You can open the trunk by the small key manually. Good luck !

Thanx for the help! I'm backed into my garage, close to the wall... I'll have to see about getting it into N so to roll it away from the wall so to get the battery out of the trunk..
I believe it's group size 49.
Is it unusual not to get any type of warning and for it to go completely dead like this? If so.. at least it happened at home..

There is a set of posts under the hood for attaching jumper cables. You have to remove the black plastic cover at the firewall on the passenger side. The +positive post is in a black plastic box. The negative post is on the sheet metal nearby.
It's common for batteries to die all at once like this. Probably it's been cranking a little slower lately, but too subtle a change to notice. Pop in a fresh battery and you'll likely notice it spins over much faster.

Did you get any messages on your cluster saying "convenience blah blah blah temporarily unavailable"? I had a similar issue car would not start and I found out it was the alternator.

Could swear that the owner's manual said to only jump the battery in the trunk.. If i'm wrong, my appoligies..
Anyhow... going to remove the battery tomorrow and see about getting it tested. Will go from there.

No message or warning of any kind.. Like I said, drove it Friday, opened the trunk X-mas eve to get some gifts and Monday afternoon.. dead.
Bought the car in August, no idea how old the batteries are but will find out.. Hope it's that simple!

damn, that sucks. But something has to be causing a draw for the battery to drain. The one time i put my headlights switched to on vs auto and last time i do that. Dumb mistake after 3 yrs driving with set on auto and costing me $120 for an Autozone batter replaced myself.

Could be something simple like the battery. Do you have the automatic trunk closer?

Even if you don't want to jumpstart or drive the car, you can use the jumper posts to power up the car. Then the key lock will work and the car can be shifted into neutral to roll it forward so the battery can be removed from the trunk.

Ok, so.. it was the battery! Unfortunately there is no date code on it so no clue of how old it is. Still will have it tested to ensure that the alternator is good.
Thanx for all your input!
