Yes, it goes all of the way down to the pan. Not being silly, but are you placing it in the correct tube? Also, it should be round, sort of like a rope.

make sure you're not using the oil tube. The tranny tube is protected by a tamper proof cap.

The dipstick itself does NOT totally enter the tranny tube; however, it does go all the way town into the pan. These MB dipsticks are universal.

I'm far from home (Miami Beach), but if I remember correctly it was a good few inches. LOL

So if most of that dipstick went down that tranny tube you should be getting fluid on that dipstick. If not, your low. Instead if just adding fluid you may consider having a tranny service performed; draining/dropping the pan, changing the filter, gasket and drain bolt.

I just did a tranny svc. Replace filer, connector and oil gasket. Then I fill up 3.7qt. I wonder if the dipstick went down to the pan. Coz I did not get reading on the indicator mark. Maybe fluid low??

The dipstick can often get caught up in the middle. Play with it, rotate, etc while inserting to get past this point.
