Powder coating or painting calipers?

Seems like there really isn't much info on changing the color on calipers. Are you guys powder coating? And if so, where are you sourcing rebuild kits for your calipers?

Or painting? At a body shop or The high heat kits? Not interested in brush marks like some of the 2 part kits produce

We're you able to source a rebuild kit?

I painted my calipers black and even though it does look good (I took my time and did it right) I think the powder coating looks even better. Much smoother, next time I do some calipers I am powder coating.

No way would I brush the paint on, that would look TERRIBLE

I know powder coating is the best way to do this but are there rebuild kits for the calipers? I don't want to break down a set of calipers for powder coating if they aren't getting new gaskets and what not

Why?Its not like the temperature of powdercoating is higher than the temperatures of the rotor under heavy braking.

Powder coating is better cause it's more durable against nicks ( like when you remove and replace a wheel, you sometime bang the caliper by mistake ) and it's GENERALLY smoother looking as well.

HOWEVER, when I painted my calipers yellow I used a polyurethane paint that looks GLASS SMOOTH and VERY shiny and was VERY durable against nicks. I have since then painted them silver again so that's that...lol.

But there is liquid in them to cool them? Am I over thinking this?

contact rob at needswing.com he can thermalcoat the calipers to reflect the heat off the rotors. mine were done in gold. for rebuild kits try zeckhausen racing. they sell seals dust boots and pistons for stoptech calipers which use the same parts as the brembos.

they look like brand new... i dont really see justifying 500-700 bucks to powder coat when i did it in less than 50 bucks and it looks immaculate and shiny. people ask me who did your calipers and plus they when they get dirty the clear that i used if you just spray water or w.e on it comes right off like nothing was there... love em

^ Good job Berti. As far as PC vs spray I would say...

If you are going to remove the calipers from the car then do powder coat. The finish will be more durable. Otherwise spray paint is fine and you can do it without removing the calipers.
