You need to find an indy, I've never paid more than a few hundred books for any of the services. The letter where intended to plan what to service but have been abused into the stealerships overcharging customers, our cars take quite a bit of oil so oil changes are expensive in materials, but the whole lube crap takes 5 minutes.. I think when I did pulleys, oil change and plugs I paid maybe $500 tops.. My general service D was around $200 including materials.

I dont think so, he hooked up some pump that had a jug of new brake fluid, it pushed the old out and the new in. He didnt even bring the STAR on this service. Either way, he ws out of town when I need the CLS55 done so I took it to the delaler for that flush and it was $175.

Ill look into those! Everytime My car is on the lift I try to get them to change out ball joints and bushings because I only have a few k left on the warranty but they keep telling me everything is solid.

Could be just the 5 d weather we are having, the car feels like **** driving and goin over bumps feels like the suspention will blow up it hits so hard.

If there is a shock bushing up there I might need them

Hmm Ill ask my indy then,I figured since our brakes are computer controlled or what ever mb calls it you would need start to apply brake with the car off.

I can do 175 for piece of mind tho

Yeah, I guess I need to find an independent. The Houston guys use Motorwerks, which is 2.5 miles from my office. I called them before and it was a week wait. Didn't think about them this time around. I'll call them next time for at least a quote.

But even on their site, Service B is 3-4 hours.

Eh regardless of the situation the car was serviced which is the main priority. yea there are those in here that are mechanically incline and are able to do the service themselves while there are others that either don't have the time or the knowledge to perform the needed task.
Dealerships charge a premium because they have an overhead to worry about while those who perform the maintenance at home wouldn't. I have worked at a dealership for many years and if I charged customers the actual time if took me to finish a job, I would never get paid well. The thing with the dealership is the customer will never get themselves dirty, there is a warranty on the items replaced incase they were to fail in the first year or XX miles.

just my .02 on the situation at hand.

Service C ==> 3 hours
Oil/Filter
Air filter
Cabin air filter
check all fluid
check battery voltage
check spare tire

All this take 3 hours to check so its waste of $$$.

I like your write ups on the spark plug change, brake rotor change and your posted video for removing the front engine cover.

I don't have the time/patience to work on my E63 and I have a B service, tranny service, brake flush and spark plug replacement coming up this week. Based on Yelp reviews, I was contemplating on taking it to Mercedes Exclusively in San Jose to save some $.

Have you ever heard of this place?

I thought the trans fluid was supposed to stay in for the life of the trans and not be replaced, let alone flushed.

Thanks for the kudos. No I have not heard of them. For the brake flush and spark plugs it should be no big deal at all.
Ask them if they pump the transmission oil in at the proper temp, like the dealer does (supposed to) or if they drive it to the right temp. It will tell you if they have all the gear for the 722.9. Also, make sure they drain the torque converter.

722.9 has no official way to flush. Do this every 40K or 39K, I have seen both in different cars.
You drain the pan and torque converter.
Remove the pan
Replace the filter
Replace the pan
fill with oil at 30C
check temp on the computer readout (STAR)
Let the overflow drain out (there is a level tube dumps out the drain plug)
put in the plug
done

CLK63 Black Series
I just had the 40k B service on my black series yesterday, it was $985 out of pocket:

- standard b service stuff (engine oil, etc)
- transmission service (fluid, filter, etc)
- differential service (flush and fluid)
- brake service (flush and fluid)

Overall I think it was fairly reasonable.
