180 on a daily driver?

Even though I don't put a lot of miles (about 8k a year) on my 55, it's still my daily driver... The GS and the VROD would be a joke to depend on. I'm dying to pick up a truck...but with 4 vehicles and 2 1/2 garage spaces...I've got to wait till the next house (is it sad that my primary desire to move to a different house is garage space?). The Harley, 55, & girlfriends Camry get the garage...the GS stays at My Car Vault.

The way I'm tuned now I feel like its VERY reliable and fairly conservative compared to what a lot of folks do on here.

Going to a 180 pulley from my Kleeman would definitely necessitate injectors .... And I'm wondering about the practicality and reliability from there. I know my mpg would take a hit (not a big concern) - believe it or not I see well over 20 mpg regularly on outings (I took pictures when I had 24.2 on a trip).

Is anyone on here running a 180, tune, headers, HE...like I would be...as a daily driver?

Thoughts?

178 is pretty much identical to a 180 so I'll chime in. I have had this setup for almost year with no real issues. My mpg has been IDENTICAL so that was never a problem. Go for it.

a Rivera...via a Custom 24, Strat and Les Paul
with your mods, I don't think that it would even be noticable to you going from a 168 to 180. . .I don't know for sure but it may turn out to be bad all around for you. . .more boost so less traction down low; more heat, less power up top (especially in Atlanta). . .Now I could be wrong about it all but as a daily, I don't think it would be a problem, but when you want to access that new power anywhere else but the track. . .

I have the180mm and injectors for you homey. With my current combo I see 20mpg's on the highway and 15mpg in city, that is without romping on it.

I had a 180mm on my black e55 I had for two years and the same combo on the silver E55 but with extra fueling and never had any issues.

I did get whiplash a couple times and shattered my teeth, but other than that, it is a reliable combo. Tony did a phenominal job on the tune and you would jump from 417rwhp to what I made, 471rwhp..... That alone would put you into the deep 11 range My tq was 570rwtq on 93, and 635rwtq on C16...

I would stay at the 168.. Unless your trying to break any 1/4 mile records im not sure you would notice that much of a difference on the street..

I run exactly this! See my signature. My commute is 100 miles daily to and from work for the last 3 years with my E55 and I've never had a problem. At 75MPH the E55 is basically idiling so there is no stress on the engine what so ever. I average about 21 MPG as well, but again mostly freeway.

Go for it!

Seriously never an issue, feel free to PM me with specific concerns if you'd like.

Alex

You made some good numbers with that 180mm, I have a 82mm T/B on top of your mods, and made 471rwhp on a dynamics dyno.

I had 180mm on both my e55, which totals nearly five years of ownership, and never had any issues. Only issue I had was I wish I had gone bigger earlier, as the neck snapping tq is where it is at

Dont forget homey, I have the Bosch 550cc injectors to go along with the 180mm for you. I will give you a smoking deal on both, and Jason can hook you up as far as joining the back end of the fuel rail like mine
