EC Heat Exchanger install and tests

EC Heat Exchanger install and tests
Got my HE from EC today. Had some time so decided to get after it.
Before.
After.
Everything was pretty straightforward.
Remove bumper is just time consuming. When you get all the fasteners off, it should practically fall off. If you have to use force something is wrong.
Not real excited about having to cut off the lower bumper mounts, but it seems ok.
the HE install itself is ok. Drill out rivets from old HE holding oil cooler on and drill and rivet the mounts onto the new HE. It hangs a bit lower than before and rubs slightly on the bumper. No big deal.
Getting the air out was a again time consuming. Took a while, I have the -10 bosch pump and had trouble getting the air out. Finally I did get a good stream out and go it purged.
I did a some test runs with a temp sensor hooked up.
On a 50 degree evening. Cruising at 75 on semi flat terrain the temp seemed to be about 72-75.
On a hard pull from 0-90 the temp would hit 87. and quickly come back down to 72-75.
On an extended downhill cruise I was able to get it down to 65. But as soon as I stopped the temp went back up to about 75.
My car is completely stock with the exception of the HE now. It will be interesting with a pulley to see how much difference it will make. That new larger core HE will be a lifesaver for sure.

Trust me just one pull from 0-80 gets those temps up quickly.

I too have the EC heat exchanger and fit is great....Also, I can attest to the effectiveness as I logged IATs before and after and this heat exchanger is a huge improvement. I think the next step if you are hell bent on lowering IATs even more is to install a large tank (engine bay or trunk) and run a Killer Chiller....
