06 CLS 55 engine

I also posted this in the CLS section on the forum. Looking for help... Had a problem an engine problem when driving a 2006 CLS 55. Did a couple runs over 130 mph last week and during last run at close to 140 mph felt gas pedal shut down lost power and immediately the check engine light came on, also started smoking immediately. Pulled over right away and turned the car off and started it again to try and clear codes. Car was shaking very bad during idle. When right home opened the hood and found oil cap seal blew and oil was all over the engine. Took the car to the mechanic over the weekend. They did a compression test yesterday and said the problem is a blown piston. Mechanic said that rebuilding the motor is not and good idea since they are hand crafted by amg and didn't want to take a chance. Also after talking to several other mechanic's and reading other posts online, it sounds like replacing the engine is the best solution. I would appreciate any imput from other members to help me in finding a good engine at a responsible price. I already checked ebay but only saw 1 amg 55 engine with 94k on it. Any additional imput would be helpful.

Go to Classify section, i remember someone was selling the engine a while ago. Not sure still has it. I assume selling engine takes a while. I think change the engine is the best way but was your engine mod ? damn....... i did 130MPH before..... thanks god nothing happened.

Pulley and ECU = Stage 1.
Stage 2 = Stage 1 + Header.

What size of pulley and who was the tuner ?

Thanks for the info. To be honest I 'm not really sure on the specs. I wish I knew more. It's actually my friends car, but I was driving it when the piston blew and I feel terrible. Trying to do some research and find more info.

The mechanic said it could have also been bad or contaminated fuel???

I'd feel terrible too. Find out what has been done to the car and it should help to figure out what the problem was. I hit 130-140 quite alot and don't have any problems.(knock on wood) Either way good luck!
