211E55 at my dealer in Houston...

They finally have a "used" E55 on their used car lot. Silver, first one I've seen in silver. The two previous ones I have seen delivered there were black and white. Silver, although common, is striking in the Houston sun. It made my decision easier, no pewter for me, silver it is!

Woo hoo!! Congrats!! Personally, silver has been the only color in my vocabulary for every car I've bought 'new':o Used....well, I wasn't too lucky with selecting my choice of color with them

Good luck!

Let me guess, MB Greenway, right? What's the markup on the 'used' car??? IMO that type of BS is why I'll never buy a car from them. Last time I was on the lot I saw an S55 on the new side with a sticker of $117k. Then I saw two on the used side with identical equipment and stickers of $154k!!!

Norb, I agree, the Silver/charcoal is a very nice combo for this car.

Kaneman, LOL---after reading Norb's post I was thinking exactly what you wrote. FYI---they had a black E55 that was 10K over sticker a few weeks ago---it sold in days. I don't play that game---but there always seems to be someone who is willing to pay. I guess it is what the market will bear.

True... and the E55 is probably the only Benz that's in tight enough supply to command any sort of premium whatsoever. In this market, I doubt very many people are willing to pay a premium at all and the ones who will are either lazy or VERY impatient. I think the number of S55's, S600s, G55s and indeed just about everything AMG save the C32 sitting on their lot says that very well.

JLBMERC, just noticed that you went from an '02 M5 to the E55. I'm very curious to hear what you think of the E55 in comparison to the M5? I haven't had an M5 for a while now, but one of the things I really miss is the 6 speed and the awesome powerplant... the sound of that V8 winding up to the redline was just INCREDIBLE. I don't miss the paperweight clutch however... BMW really should've put something stronger in!

Yes its at Greenway, on the pedestal as well! I see it everyday I go to work. I can't wait to get mine. Silver is awesome! I didn't see a sticker on it but I bet its got a pretty good premium. I've bought 2 cars from them and they have changed since AutoNation has bought them. I liked it better when they were independent.

Kaneman,

Yes, I sold the M5 and I miss it too. It was great---I had a few mods on it and I really enjoyed the 6 spd, how easy it was to toss around and the exhaust sound----Supersprint mufflers and resonator replacement pipes. Also, I could get Dinan work done at the dealer--the E55 dealer won't perform any mods--not even muffler changes.

Nevertheless, I had the E55 on order for sometime and after reading about it---I knew it was the one I wanted to keep; it was an attractive car, a new body style, it had untouchable acceleration(can't go fast any easier), was great on the highway-(comfortable and stealthy). Now, if I want to play with a 6 speed and have aggressive fun in curves--I take out the Porsche.

BTW, I pick my car up tomorrow from Memorial One here in town--the RENNtech mods should be complete. Can't wait!

Lastly, I have to admit that I remain an M5 fan--- I have a deposit on the E60 M5.

Thumbs up

I just went by MB Greenway and now they have 2 '03 E55's, including a tectite one behind the Bentley on the front pedestal to go with the silver one. I stopped yesterday and looked at it.. It looks pretty loaded with Pano, key-less, drive dynamic seats, etc. I am going to try to give it a test drive.
