Sadly It's Time To Let Her Go (NOW FOR SALE)

I purchased this Mercedes new in 2005 and I love my E55 more than ever but it is time to move on. I still remember the first time I pulled up behind a W211 E55 in 2003 and all I could think of was WOW!!.....I need one of those. Well after seven years with the car and numerous hours on this board it is time to make a change. I still plan to stay with AMG but I need a........TT.

My car has 54K on the odometer, is in near mint condition, runs perfectly and is packed with numerous goodies including Kleemann K2, LSD, 80mm throttle body, Vrus intake, python tubes, lightweight Evosport floating rotors and 19inch BBS LMs, Brabus front lip and rear spoiler. I also have a custom Valentine 1 radar/laser detector that has the etched rear-view mirror display.

So I have some questions for you guys:
1) Should I put it back to stock, trade it in and sell off the goodies or should I try to sell as is?
2) What is it worth as is?
3) What is it worth in stock form (24-25k?)

Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

Put it back to stock and use it as a trade in towards the TT.. You will have a few g's in mods that you can take off for sure..

LOL

Rock sell the parts separately if at all possible. No dealer will give you the value you should get for the mods. In fact most dealers will want it in stock format.

I think you will have some bites here for some of the parts.

Im sorry that your mod paycut has led to this but if you just actually did your job you could keep this car. When Rock said he needs a TT- he was talking Audi guys---

I agree with all others about part out the mods. Let me know if you decide to part out and how much for the Kleemann Pulley. I want to stay with Kleemann mods.

Hey Lee,

Options are pan roof, nav, black leather, piano black trim, seat heaters, 6 disk cd player and MP3 hook-up. The interior is as clean as exterior. I do not know what I would want for the car "as is" (no one has answered my question) but it sounds like it may be best to part it out.

If you have some time before you pull the trigger on a new TT AMG, try listing it for sale as it sits.... You got nothing to lose. A friend did it with his heavily modded BMW - actually got quite a bit of interest, and has a deposit in hand.

For value - warranty? records? whats meant by near mint interior? any bodywork ever done?

Ok Rock all kidding aside, your biggest gain (if you part out) or loss (if you dont) are the LM's. I would sell them separately and put some AMG Reps on the car and trade it in.

The V1 is tough since its etched in--- can you get another RV mirror? The K2 package will take labor to remove so Im not sure if you want to spend that type of money to uninstall and reinstall the stock stuff.

You can easily pull the brabus spoilers off and sell those.

What else??

But you could still try to sell it as is first. A private party who is very picky would be willing to pay extra for the condition and the parts. Why not post it on Ebay and in the forums and see what happens over the next few weeks. Many a nice E55 with mods have been sold here and/or via ebay, autotrader, etc.

Your car could easily pull in the low $30K range, easy. NADA lists it as such, so even if the credit unions will loan full asking price ($29,200), most buyers will still have a couple G's in their pocket on top of the bank loan to add.

I would say that you could get $32,000 all day long for that clean ride. I go through ALOT of cars, and have seen this trend over the years, if you can wait for the right buyer to come along, I bet it will pull the price I mentioned with 8 weeks.

If you decide to part out, let me know the condition of the wheels/tires, whether they have TPMS or not, and how much you want for them.

Feel free to PM...

Sad to see the beast go but glad to hear you'll be staying in the fam!

for a CLEAN 211 from a GREAT member! Good luck!

I would try to sell all the parts separately as you won't get as much if you were to sell it as a package.

I have always loved this car and it was very beneficial in helping me decide to mod my car with Kleemann goods.

Sad to see your 55 "on the block" Rock, but the 212 63-5.5 TT is compelling.
IMHO a clean sled like yours should bring no less than $28K as is.
So good luck with the sale, congratulations on the Mod appointment

Now that you are a Mod, you can officiate the battle here over your LM's should you decide to part out.

I have no doubt that I could probably get a few more bucks selling it outright, I'm just not sure I want to go to the trouble dealing with all the "tire-kickers".

BTW, no warranty, all records, mint interior, no bodywork.... ever.

Thanks Vic, I already put the original 5-spoke rims back on. My tech at Mercedes is telling me my LMs should work on the CLS. What do you think?

If I do decide to part the car out, I plan to give some of the stuff away for free.

Thanks chawkins!!! That is what I was looking for. I really don't have a good idea of where I should start in the $$$$ department.

Yeah, I was really torn about doing this but I am ready to try a new AMG.
Also, I'm not really a Mod. Vic just put that tag under my screen name for a week in exchange for not sending him daily pm's.

Negative. I mean they will fit but they will look stupid on a CLS--- correct me if Im wrong but the LM fitment is a 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 set up for the E right?

The offsets and lack of width will make those wheels sit way way inward and you will have a minivan like fender well gap from the metal to the tire inward. I didnt even mention that 19's will be too small for the CLS as well.

CLS run more aggressive offsets and ideal wheels are 20x9 and 20x11.

Yes....correct they are 8.5 (255) and 9.5 (285) I thought the five spoke forged rims on the CLS were also 19s. My tech seems to think the LM offsets will work fine but from what you are saying he is probably way off.

CLS 2012 wheels (63TT) are 19x9 and 19x10.... and they are too small and too inward. So while your LM's will fit; they will look off big time.
