Went to Drag Strip
i was hoping to get into the 7's but was a little disappointed.i will say that i haven't been to the strip in 20 years,so i really don't have a clue, although i do get a few races around town.
the car is stock except for a tune,i was on regular street tires and ran 8.2 at 88mph.
am i dreaming hoping for 7's,is it technique or just my car showing it's age?
it seems like on the 1/4 mile thread there were some guys in the 7's with stock cars?
my 60' times were a hair over 2 sec.
i also noticed my car shifting early to 2nd and 3rd,like barely over 6,000rpm.would re-setting adaptations help that?
please all input is welcome, even if you want to say how slow i am.
PS...i did manage to beat my buddie's brand new 2012 Roush stage 3,he was shocked and honestly i was a little surprised to,his best was 8.4 at 86mph.
Your 60' foot time is over 2sec. If you can get that to 1.8 or less, you are in the 7's.
Yes, a reset would help if it is possible with a 63?
Shifting at 6000 is too low. Isn't the 63 good for 7000+?
Practise your starts, hold rpm at 2000, ease off the line, nail it, shift at 6800-7000.
PS. You are doing something right to take the Roush.

OP, this is good stuff here.
My first 6 or so runs in my 05 e55 where low to mid 8's.
I thought I had a lemon until I saw what my friends were doing in vettes, svt mustangs and GTOs.
After 3 days trying different launch techniques and adding a set of DRs I pulled a 7.8s run with a 1.8s 60 foot time at 88mph.
As noted in earlier post your car is there it is just a matter of getting off the line. I am not the best driver and have slow reflexes so I am sure you will be there soon.
Our cars trap the same speed and my initial 60 foot times were in 2s range as well. Stay motivated and let us know how you do. I have all my times in a spreadsheet. There were a few bumps getting to sub 7s goal but got there. Ran an 8.001s 2nd track day for example.

my aunt lives in Nolensville,we will definitely hook up next time.we were thinking that tuesdays would be better, since it is stock night.last night they only gave us about an hour before they closed lanes for the money racing.
thanks to all who replied,i'll keep working at it.
