Well this is a bad sign. I can see through my block to the other side

Btw, the CLK55 rods are very similar to E55 and also crack forged. Ricer hoopty powaaaa![drive](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/driving.gif)

Am I the first to break a rod in these motors?

I told you not to hit the NAWS until Toreto was at least two car lengths in front of you. Too soon.

Nah, she lasted pretty friggin long wit stock bottom end and whoopin ***. Had to let go sooner or later. Just wish I could have seen its full potential at the track.
Thank you

Was that a Chris Tucker damn? haha
What makes you say that? There was no "NOS" used. Everything has its limit and looks like I exceeded that

That's how ricer hooptys roll! ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Started the pull at the top of second and blew up at the top of third or bottom of fourth. I didn't have a race gas tune. Just a pump gas tune

sooo..... it was gonna brake inevitably, race gas or not. it was just coincidental that it broke while running it. since race gas doesn't just make more power, its gives you he ability to make more power with a tune that takes advantage of it.. i.e more boost, timing, etc.... (just making sure were all on the same page)

Never thought of it that way

i know ecu's pull timing when they see knock, but do our ecu's really add timing past factory settings if no knock is detected? that sounds kinda crazy to me. and my s13 was a full stand alone car, so it was always tuned for specific set-ups.

Who said I had a factory tune? Add the ecu will pull timing for factors other than just knock. High IAT being an example

yeah, i never realized how bad of heat issues these cars had till the other night i was awe struck at how much power they loose. but back on topic my point is that i cant imagine your tuner, would give you tune thats more aggressive than what 93oct with hopes that your ecu will correct enough that would allow you to run. so the only real advantage to it is that its going to run at the desired timing, and boost levels longer (since from my understanding this is all controlled by our ecu's) and i know to an extent a lot of times race gas burns a little cooler than pump. so sometimes it can help lower your temps a small amount. but im also sure that our intake air is way before the fuel is atomized so it wouldnt even have any effect on that... so realistically there should have been no real power gain just from running race gas, since there was never a tune made for it. just my .02. i dont mean any disrespect by this, i can only hope that some day my car puts down the kinda power yours did. i just wanna clear this up lol (edited late didnt see the 10hp gain, still stand by it was gonna happen on pump or race gas)

Well we finished the pump gas tune and then added a splash of race gas to see what happened... It kept making more power with every pull and then we unstrapped it. I'm going by the shop tonight so maybe I can get an exact delta number if I can remember which pull we added race gas. I want to say over 10whp.
Thanks. I have a ton more pics but I think those sum it up pretty well. Now I have 211 E55 and 208 CLK55 motors torn apart to compare. They are veryyy similar inside. Obviously less of a relief in the piston in the CLK55 for higher compression but everything else looks damn near exactly the same at first glance.
All I know for sure is the car was making more power after adding race gas and was making more after every pull before we decided to just pull it off as there were other cars waiting for tunes. If you look at my earlierpost I said "maybe" it would have blown on pump, who knows. The fact of the matter is I put leaded 110 in it after I looped the fuel rail and it broke. I've had about 50k supercharged miles on the motor (a little under 50k miles NA) and never broke on pump gas. I'm happy with how long it lasted
