Mother of God... ZR1 Kill Story...
And I am sure you guessed correctly, he SLAUGHTERED me... I knew I was going to get spanked, but man... Having never seen one in person, I was not expecting the force it really had.
I was at a local farm and fleet to get some tires balanced, and I noticed a black ZR1 on the alignment rack a few bays down. So I went over and the owner and I were talking about his Vette, Very nice guy BTW. So hes going over the details of his car to me then we start talking about worthless stuff like gas mileage and tire costs.
So were talking and then the SA comes over and tells him his car is ready, so they pull his car out of the bay, and mines already finished. Then we take care of our service costs, and he says he has to run some more errands and that it was nice chatting. Then he gets in his car and starts pulling away towards the exit, me following casually. Then it happens. Red light, and I'm right next to him. All of a sudden, he revs it, and I'm thinking, Holy Hell, that sounds amazing. I knew he was going to go for it, and i knew i was getting spanked, but it was worth a shot.
So the light turns green and the weirdest thing happens. Nothing. for a good two seconds were both just sitting there, waiting for the other to go. So I floor it, as does he, and man did he almost kill it... I thought i had him. then it pulls out of its stumble and all I hear is WAHHHHHHH WAHHHHHHHH and then he shoots past me (while I'm still going WOT) like I'm sitting still... I was amazed, and embarrassed for even trying...
Lesson learned. Don't F**k with the ZR1's....

Beating a ZR-1 won't be easy on the street, those suckers trap 130+ stock which gives you a good idea how quick they really are. As a matter of fact, a stock ZR-1 with drag radials would give a good run to the fastest any E55 has been able to run.

If you watch the vid closely, he was not catching me on the top end. They are fast no doubt, and I believe the one I ran was stock. A pulley and tune on those things would change the game for sure, but then again, you have to be a pretty good driver to get the max out of the ZR1.
We have a local one that has a pulley and tune only, and is making around 610rwhp, I will see if he is interested in going down to Mexico for some friendly runs.

Am I the only one wondering why anyone with a car that they care about would bring it to a Farm and Fleet? That's like taking your car to Walmart. Those tards have been known to: Mount directional tires wrong and scratch wheels.

Samething with the other snake I love, the dodge viper. They are extremely fast, but very hard to control and extract the max potemtial out of them. Case and point, I ran one in my old E55 which was a stage 2, his car been an SRT10 roadster with exhaust and tune. I would only go from a dig, low and behold he could not get his car out the hole, fish tailing eveywhere.
For true speed comparison, and 2nd gear roll on would be best up to say 160mph

I race a ZR1 before. We were both stock at the time. I got out in front and he was behind me and couldn't get around me due to some other cars. Once we hit 150mph I looked in the rear and saw his wife beating on him then he slowed down to 70mph and never moved.lol If he could have gotten around me he would have killed me.

Kudos to OP for respecting another marque rather than the typical nonsense. I'm sure you two both had fun doing it, which is really all that matters.
That said, to all the Ricer Hoopty crew (I'm looking @ you, blackbenzzzz) who can make their cars "competitive" (driver differences aside) to such a great platform - kudos again. ZR1 is a force to be reckoned with, no way around it.

Yea, If I knew how to drive stick I would definitively be interested in driving or even owning one some day. I just hate how it doesn't have the grocery getter look to it. Thats one of my biggest turn ons with the E55.
