W210 Brake Question

Ive hit the 25k mile marker and like most need to replace my brakes. Ive read most of the brake related posts on the board....it seems you have to 'upgrade' the system or replace as stock since no one makes OEM replacement rotors either drilled/slotted. The only source (from a previous post) I couldnt find a definitve answer about was Bergwerks. Anyone know if they make OEM replacement rotors and/or has anyone used their products? www.bergwerks.com

I've heard both these guys have drilled or slotted rotors. I'm waiting to call them next week because I need new fronts as well.

There is a drilled rear only replacement rotor by Brembo for $229. See:

http://www.evosport.com/product/brak..._mercedes.html

They also list a W210 AMG brake system - no price

Just got a call back from Brake Warehouse.....as with everyone else they cannot find an aftermarket replacement. But, they are the only ones that went the extra mile. They are willing to buy the rotors from MB and then drill/slot them. Total cost is $310/ea for the fronts. If someone could chime in as to a mechanical/performance reason not to have this done (assuming there is one) I'd appreciate it.

If they are drilled properly, there is no reason not to do it. If they are not champhered properly, then they will likely crack.

Well, there is one reason not to do it... It's 20% of a full Brembo 13.1" GT kit.

I know of a replacement rotor that is cross drilled to fit the W210 AMG (and W208/W202 AMG models).

E-mail me and I will tell you about it, I have a prototype to test with but I can tell you how to get the test versions before they are widely available in a couple months.

I'm really not at liberty to post it publicly... or I would have done so!

New brakes at 25k??? Is that common, or does it suggest that something's wrong with the system?

I'm at 37k on my '02, and haven't had the slightest braking tremor. I don't drive timidly, either.
