its super easy... most time consuming part of the job is jacking the car up and putting it on jackstands..

they just unscrew with wrench and unplug just a bit further up.

not too bad if you have one of those 02 open ended wrenches for 02 sensor. Just make sure you hit it with some PB blaster in case you havent opened it in a while.

Dealer raped me for the left side a few week ago $702, still hurting. My right side just went dead today. I think I will try to replace it myself this time.

Do you have to program the new sensor to adapt or just plug and play?

Peter like the rest of the guys said Un clip the o2 sensor and break it loose, Thread the new one on and plug it back in. Be sure to clear the codes before startup. sounds like something is causing them to burn out pre-mature. have you done any mods or tune lately? maybe it was just a fluke.

I didn't have any problem till I got the ARH LTH installed and EC tune. My car started to throwing CEL left and right. Multiple cylinders misfired on the left side, my car was hesitating so badly I couldn't get it pass 40mph. Everytime the car come to a stop it shake so badly it want to stalls, black smoke and unburnt gas fumes was coming out of the tail pipe. Limp my way to the local stealer and they replaced a dead left side O2. Run fine for a few week now I'm getting code for the left side, same symptoms. Maybe it just a fluke like you said.

Were the o2 sensors wired correctly? There are two and white goes to the first and black to the second o2 in the header , but this is for the e55. If you interchange them in the header, can cause CEL issues.

Yes, the Stealer checked all the O2 sensors and it all working except the dead one. On E63 you will know right away if they are switched backward.

+1 ^ this happened to me as the shop that installed my headers reversed the o2 sensors and i kept throwing codes so decided to replace o2's and when i got under car i noticed the 02's were in the wrong spot (downstream were in the upstream position and upstream where in the downstream position)... i reversed them and car was fine and sent new o2s back for refund

Last time I had it check with a STAR before the left side went dead everything was normal. I have no way of checking it now.

You're lucky man..I hate having to deal with this *****..does your number 8 pipe rub the steering column under load? especially when you make a turn and hit the gas?

I get some vibration under load but not sure its from the steering column I have the Eisemann race mufflers and the passenger side is close to the body. I don't know how close the steering knuckle is to the #8 pipe you can remove that knuckle and just use a nut and bolt in the column. I have seen Bruce at TTM do it and seem to work.

Finally got the O2 sensor put it. It was much easier than I thought it would be. Everything is running great. Just so you E63 guys know the front O2 sensor are the same for left and right even though the harness insulator are different color (black or dark green). I thought they sent me the wrong part cause the harness was a different color but the part number on the sensor are exactly the same.

great to hear you sorted out the codes, its aggravating to install mods and have a code pop up.
