probably a couple of hundred.
Pressure bleeder had to be attched to the brake booster reservior and then the valves in the SBC unit are actuated via STAR DAS to bleed the system.

My car recently hit 50k miles so I decided to have the brake fluid, antifreeze, tranny fluid, and oil done at the dealer for a $640.
I think it is $ well spent.

Shar - Can you please expand on this ? I cannot understand from an engineering perspective, why one could not suck the fluid out of each caliper ?? Is it just that the SBC needs to have valves opened during the bleed ?

from what i understand the valves are electonically controlled. some people in the past have bleed the system the traditional way, but MB calls for the system to actutated via DAS. You could be fine doing it just by hooking up a pressure bleeder.

Here is what I just found on another site :
"
You don't have to have the STAR system to do this. You do , however, need to take a few precautions if your vehicle is equipped with SBC. Those precautions being; simply lock the car, put the keys away (away from car too, if you have Key-go), and don't open the doors, don't press the brake pedal, nor allow anybody inside (or near) the vehicle during this work. This way, the SBC module won't kick in and as such, there's really no no need to disable/disconnect it. However...if you simply can't keep somebody from opening a door, or unlocking the vehicle, etc....then by all means, disconnect the SBC.
To flush/bleed the brakes, I use one of those hand-held vacuum bleeder tools...like the ones for $20 from Harbor Freight (or the like). You know the ones...that you pump with your hand?
First, suck out as much old brake fluid from the fluid reservoir as possible. Refill with fresh (DOT 4+ only), and keep topped up as you bleed.
Start at the wheel furthest from the fluid reservoir. Connect your vacuum bleeder...and pump away. Once the fluid runs nice and clear, it's time to move to the next furthest wheel....lather, rinse repeat. Top up when complete, and you're done."

On my BMW I tried the vacuum method and i didnot get good results. Plus it is cumbersome holding the vacuum gun in one hand and trying to open and close the bleeder valve with the other.
With the pressure bleeder you build uP pressure in the brake booster and open the bleed valve and until new fluid starts to come out.

I think the pressure method without DAS could be an issue because the system would have valves within the SBC closed (guess).

I was quoted $200 inclusive of fluid (it's like.. DUH, of course it better be inclusive of fluid) by a local Benz tech. Now it doesn't seem as expensive.. Thanks for the reminder. Already pass the 50K

Sequence questions answered. Now whether or not the vac hand bleeder will work

On my CLS (with SBC) my local dealer charged me $190. So it seems like $200 is a good place to start as far as how much money to set aside.

There's a coupon for dealer services right now that can save you about half off up to $300.
