One of the main benefits of a trunk tank is the ability of add ice during race sessions.
During daily driving the additional capacity of fuild helps a little bit, but you have to remember after a couple of pulls the water in the system will heat up and will be only cooled to the point of what the front mount heat exchanger can cool it.
If you do 10 to 15 back to back pulls with a rear tank on a hot day without ice YES the SC will shut down.
I dont think insulating the tank is going to help.

May be if you run a killer chiller then I see the point, but beside that no.
I run a three gallons tank and stuff with ice, by the end of the 1/4 mile run the ice completely melted. This is on a 50 degree day.

Reason I ask - my audio gateway gets pretty hot, and eventually overheats/kicks off when I am at the track pushing it hard. Thought a little bit of insulation wouldn't hurt things and possibly keep the tank cooler, longer.
