I know there was a pretty good vendor for the W211, but I believe the owner passed away last year... but they had bluetooth options for our cars
after having my rental for almost a week, I got used to the bluetooth phone option and if possible (and cost effective) it would be cool to have it in my 55
any good vendors out there????

Some of these look a whole lot like the stuff CarTronics used to sell. I like the option that adds Bluetooth phone and the iPod functionality through the COMAND. A little pricey, but looks like a well integrated solution.

CarTronics was the vendor who passed away.... My understanding however, was that he didn't actually develop the products he sold.

that sure does look nice though - seems to fully integrate everything into the steering wheel, and COMMAND unit!

I'm also looking for an iPhone integration solution. Phone and music. Can't be that difficult.
I actually was looking for the cartonics solution a few days ago when I found out the bad news. I'm ready to buy something now.

I'm about to have this installed next week. The factory bluetooth has given me nothing but problems and the factory ipod kit sounds horrible in my car.
If this doesn't improve sound quality, I'm going to rip the entire COMMAND and MOST system out and go straight after-market.

Todd, If you go with the factory setup it will cost you ~$1000 installed. I believe the aftermarket systems are about the same cost (I have never seen the unit mentioned above).
Similarly, any idea how to incorporate a back up camera on the factory screen ? I have been told that it can be done, but I am curious how it is integrated.

Correct. There are a number of threads on this subject, so just search and read.
Update : I saw a thread on Youtube that just plugged the puck into the SOS link. The guy that posted the video said he would post a part 2 showing how it worked, but he never did....I wonder if it was more complex than he thought...

I was quoted about $700, including the install for that unit. At that price point, I would rather just go a different direction. So, I ended up backing out on the entire thing and have now decided to just rip the entire COMMAND system out and go aftermarket.
I'm removing everything stock (HUD, entire MOST ring, navigation unit, cd changer, bluetooth puk, factory ipod connector, AGW, HK amp, and HK speakers, teleaid stuff, all associated wiring, and anything else the shop finds that won't be needed anymore), so if anyone wants something just let me know.
I will probably post a for sale thread once everything is out.
