OK, hate to post this but after three days of search, I can't find one definitive answer/solution for this. All the sequences for engineering mode conflict. Here is what I have:

HTC Inspire is paired, connected, can be used as phone

Great. On phone, can select "MB Phone System" as audio player, but of course, nada.

Anyone figured this out? Or an update maybe disabled engineering in mine?

do you have the UMI? bluetooth telphone is one thing but you need the Universal Media interface to stream bluetooth audio

Hmm, I have option 389, which says "preinstall for mobile UHI" or maybe "UMI".

I just bought a bluetooth puck from a guy which worked fine connecting with phone.

Preinstall means it's wired for it. the puck is telephone only, not streaming audio

Ah, got it. It can be added to any car that is wired for it though, right? Thanks

What year E63? the streaming box is only for 2009.5 cars with NTG 2.5 Comand

get a bluetooth adapter that plugs into the mini connector and hard wire it in. Then you can stream bluetooth audio through your aux connection. Thats what i plan on doing.

Haven't checked out glove compartment in detail yet but there isn't an ipod cable. Should the connector still be available?

Those will work. It just sucks that you can't get something like the UMI for the earlier cars. the UMI will control your bluetooth stream like a hardwire connection including Song title, and Artist info both on the radio and in the dash

This link no longer works. I have an 06 and don't think there is a plug in the glove box. Can I wire into the AUX on the head unit? Anyone have an updated to the above link or know what it is called?
