Round two a Great Lakes Dragaway, new PB

Decided to go out to the strip and give it another shot tonight. This time I had brand new Mickey Thompsons on the back, and it made a big difference!!! First run was the best at 11.85@119MPH!! No other changes from last time with streets and the best I could manage then was 12.47@117. I was very happy with the results. And to make it even more exciting/gratifying lined up next to me was a new vette that I killed!! Not sure, but I think a stock 2011 C6. He had me on reaction time but I quickly pulled ahead of him and never looked back!! What a rush!! Too bad I didn't have anybody with me to record it. Thanks to everybody on here that gave me advice, still think I can do a little better. Do you guys load up before launch? How high of RPMS? Car was hooking really well but when I tried to load up my second pass, I didn't have enough brake and redlighted. Only had enough time for a couple of runs so didn't try again.

You have a mid 11s car no doubt. I pulled a 1.79 60' on street tires, so you have some room for improvement on the 60' especially with drag radials.. Get back out there and keep practicing.. I usually launch at around 1k rpms.

Your 60ft should be way lower. Just practice to find what works best for you. Every tenth you take off your 60ft is worth 2 tenths at the end of the track.

I'd like to go out and watch you run. I'd be willing to record your runs too so you can watch them later. I'm in Kenosha. Let me know when you're going to go with some notice if you can?

Still faster than me! Lol but I'm also having 60 foot times. And I didn't notice until I watched a video of me on the drags and I was just spinning tooooo much and my cousin recording didn't even tell me! I was mashed on the brakes and brought up the rpm's over 1000 or so and it was still breaking bad traction, but on the inside you can't even notice!

Sure, sounds like a plan. I'm thinking one or two more times before the end of the season. I'll shoot you a PM when I know for sure when.

Also, I noticed by the rubber only on one side of my car that only one wheel was spinning when doing my burnout. I was in dyno mode and power braked it. Is there something wrong or do I just need a LSD?? Maybe something to do with poor 60ft

Was your suspension all the way up and in comfort mode?
What psi were in the tires?

Yes, up and in comfort. Had pressure somewhat high at 25psi as was suggested to me to start and go lower if needed

Sunday looks like possible rain, tonight was perfect DA's and temps wish I had more time there to dial it in. Also noticed it takes a long time for my ait temps to come down between runs, maybe I should take it for a ride out on the highway in between to get aits back down quickly or get the ic pump wired to stay on all the time??

Nice run! A lil more practice with the 60's and you'll be mid 11's no sweat!

NEW PB at Great lakes Dragaway today!!

Went back out to the strip today and had another PB. Just ran 11.705@117.66 with a 1.71 60ft!! That's my best 60ft and ET but the trap speed is down from 119 on my 11.85 run. I did have the air pressure down to 15psi that run, would that do it?? Also recently had a Zeitronix installed and Dashdaq. AIT's were at 135 by the end of the run and I think my tune is still a little rich at 10.8 in 3rd gear over 5K rpm. I think it could have been adding fuel though with those AIT's. On a highway 3rd gear pull with AIT's under 100 I was seeing 11.4's or so in 3rd gear over 5K RPM. What do you guys think. Under 5k rpm on the highway pull the AFR's looked spot on at 11.8. If anybody wants to see the log files I can email them, they are in the zgl format and I cannot figure how to attach them here

Nothing wrong, you need an LSD. YOU wont be able to hold higher rpm off the launch, the car will push through the brakes.

Slightly push on the gas to get the slack out the drivetrain, and then let it drop back down to idle and put your foot through the floor.

Yeah I figured I need the LSD. Today I was unable to load up at all without braking the tires loose!! I had to launch from idle. What do you think about the AFR's I mentioned in my last post

Nobody else with any thoughts on the run? Also I had an issue today at the track. I think I read a few others having something like this happen. I was at the line with it in dyno mode foot on the brake and hit the gas, motor revved up but no tires spinning or even trying to move. I thought, OHH ****!!! I broke something for sure, not a good feeling at all!!! I look down make sure in drive and it is. Try to bump the shifter out of D into 1st gear and wont downshift. Use the mode selector and put in manual mode, shows 5 on the dash and buttons on the steering wheel wont shift it either. Back it out of the box and go park. Turn it off, start it, still in dyno mode and wont shift out of D. Stomp on the gas and feels like limp mode, no power at all!! Also hearing a very strange vibration towards the back of the car. Check codes via Dashdaq and nothing. Turn it off, back on and take out off dyno mode. Everything works fine again, bump shifting 1-D, has power and everything seems fine. Didn't have another issue with it the rest of the day, was able to put it back in dyno mode and did big old smoky burnouts and everything seemed fine. Anybody know what happened, do I have anything to be concerned about?? Thought I saw a couple posts about similar issues in the past but cannot remember what the issue was or if there was one

That happens with 2005-2006 to protect the trans but you have an 03 so it shouldn't have that feature

There are a couple things missing in your combo brotha which will elevate you deep into the 11's. Once you clock 120* iats in these sleds, the ECU pulls timing, and dumps fuel, thus your rich air fuel. Your top end is dropping off as you are only picking up 24mph on the back half.

First thing is a trunk tank so you can pump that thing full of ice pre run. That will help take care of your pre run cooling, but once you start the onslaught, I would recommend meth too. A good meth setup should keep you around 100* for the whole run.

Those two mods will elevate you to the next level.

Thanks for the tips on the cooling, I was thinking I need to do some more on that end. It was only about 40 degrees ambient yesterday, but by the time I got up and did the burnout, my IAT's were like 90 at the start of the run. Who's making the best meth kit's out there?? Are they difficult to do? Ballpark price installed. Always thought that was more than I wanted to do to my car, but no matter how fast I go I just wanna go faster!!!
