Just heard from family on Staten Island. Basement a total loss and storm surge was threatening the upstairs, then subsided. Neighborhood (they are near the water) a total wreck but everyone safe. They said there will be a time to mourn the loss, but for now it's time to be hardened steel strong that New Yorker/New Jersey people are. Power will be out for days.

We made it through with nothing but a leaky chimney. Lost power about midnight and it restored around 10am. Was a cold night for sure, but we just rounded up the lil'uns and the dog and we all huddled in 1 bed. Chilly, and the kids were freaked, but no problem.
I live in a Lake Community, and here's the dam that normally holds the lake in place. That lake sits in the bottom of a 'bowl', since we live in the appalachian foothills, basically. All draining goes downhill.....so that lake is gonna swell for the next few days. I live on high ground, so no chance of flooding, but people down stream may not be so lucky.
Here's the creek that runs behind my house that the lake spillway feeds into.... it's normally maybe 6-8 ft across, with some spots you're able to hop across with with a good running start:
E-Class and Caddy were in the garage, and the SL was in underground storage at the dealership.

Damn, I didn't think too much of the storm (I used to live in FL and been thru many hurricanes), but this is just unbelievable. Stay strong, things will get better, and help is on the way (saw about twenty utility trucks heading east this afternoon).

power just got back on today.. big trees uprooted but minimal property damage overall in princeton, nj
witnessed a fight over gas and nobody is selling premium so my car is useless for now
but listening to the radio the past few days only lets me imagine how bad it is closer to the shore, looting, people stealing generators right out of backyards, etc.. my parents just sold their condo up in bridgewater and its no more than a few hundred feet from the hudson

I think out of good will, we should make a donation for Red Cross from MBWorld. I say $1 a member would be great, if you want to donate more, more power to you. Let me know what guys think.
We just did this at work today and felt good helping others out in need.

No cause if we do $5-10, people get all worked up so that is why I said $1 starting point. This happened at work, people weren't ready to pay $5 so they did $1 lol

Hey guys, just checking in. Still without electric/phone/net/cable. Limited supply of gasoline due to storm. Not uncommon to be waiting 4-6 hrs to fill up your car or gas cans. Hoping to have power restored by next weekend.
Many...many...many people are far worse off than us and I've been counting our blessings every night. God bless.
