Anyone here know dodge neon SRT-4's?
My buddy just picked up a new to him neon srt-4 today, and he said the only mods are a mopar lowering kit, new air filter, and stock turbo up to 22lbs of boost. Now, what would this do against a 55? He has a huge background with SRT-4s, but I have never went further than a picture. Heres the one he just got.
Heres the ones hes had in the last few years
Are these neons quick?
I have found a few searching that look as though they would really handle some competition..

If it warms up a little bit we can take some photos with the E, but this thing is sick. I have to get it on video, but fire literally shoots out of the exhaust when bouncing off the limiter. it is sick, actually burnt my driveway a bit.

A guy I know had one with intake/exhaust and a different wastegate actuator to run more boost (not sure what it was) with stock turbo. He ran like 102mph in the 1/4 with it.
Those cars can vary big time in performance, but if it only has what he is saying then you should have no problem beating it even with what looks like a stock e55 you have.

Srt4s Stock turbo on pump gas fully tuned can run 12.50 fully tuned on e85 with slicks 11.80..
We have run 10.50 @136 "not stock" .. But full interior street car.

Had one turbo and one N/A in the extended family. Both absolute POS cars to the extreme. Hope your buddy has good luck with his. Could not give me one of those for free.

Thanks for the input guys, I'll just try and get a ride with him on video and post it up here, then you guys can decide how it would do. Were going to be hanging out again tonight after he gets off work, so then I can see if he'll take it to a back road for videos sake. I am just intimidated because of the following:
1. you can hear the turbo whine down the street at partial throttle,
2. it came stock with full fledged bucket seats,
3. because of the supposed 22lb boost increase from 11-13 psi stock
Even if he would walk me, I still want to run it just for funs sake. I dont mind losing if its with a friend, or by a ZR1..... Lmfao

You are being worried to much for running against a stock turbo car. Unless there is something wrong with your car you will spank him. Drop your car down in to 2nd and get ready for the take off and as soon as you hit the throttle you are going to sling shot out in front of him so fast it is going to be ridiculous. You will then start pulling away.

Thanks for clearing this up, and because of it, look forward to a video this summer of a spanking! Just some things made me worry, like the posts below:
Hopefully this weird half winter/half fall/ half summer weather crap clears up because now I want to run him, but the weather now is crap.. Should we do a rolling start or from a dig? I noticed Urbamworm, you suggested a roll and kick down in to second, so start at about 45 to hit that torque curve in second?

I'm guessing you don't research other cars much? If he has stock turbo you will kill him... Ask if the turbo is stock. If its not there is a high chance you will lose from a roll. You would have a much better chance from a dig if you know how to floor your car from a stop lol. If he comes to the race with a bigger turbo and drag radials on the front rocking 22+ psi your screwed haha.

Ill ask what turbo he has, he said 22lbs of boost with stock turbo. Ill take pics of it, its really slick. Love the seats too. But Ill get that video of him going wot from a roll and a dig. Hopefully its a stock turbo and hes not just baiting me. lol

stock neon with chip tune 22psi runs about 12 sec 1/4 at 115 mph with drags.... should be a close race if you are 100% stock

He has one of those handheld programmers, I think he said bulley dog or something similar. If it would run 12s, I think the biggest factor would def. be traction. I am also swapping out my stock heat exchanger, plugs, oil, and wires if that makes that big of a difference. Even though I am on street tires would a quick spin out aid in traction at all? I honestly do not want to be beat by a neon.. lol
