Repair or sell as-is, need help!

Appreciate any input from the MBWorld members. I have an 04 sl55, had the pulley fall off (long story)... fast forward 6 months. I've had the car in two shops, both took a sizeable deposit with no work completed. So I'm getting to the point of frustration with this car. My question is, anyone have an idea what an 04 sl55 with ~68k miles, super clean would be worth as-is? I really feel like pushing the car off a cliff and it's hard to find the enthusiasm I once had for it. Thanks for reading.

So you didnt get your deposits back? Plus no deposit should be required. Services should be paid for when they have been done, not before.

What does kbb.com say value is at?

I know of someone down here that can/will tackle the project... And will more than likely be cheaper than both of the shops you have tried.

PM me, and I can send you info.

Thanks for all the feedback thus far. To answer the question above, no I didn't recieve any of the deposit back. The excuse from both builders was they needed me to front some of the expenses of buying parts to rebuild the shortblock. This time around I'm going to source the crank myself (hopefully from chawkins) and just need someone to pull the motor, install the crank and new bearings so that I can sell the car. I want to do it as economically as possible but I also want the repair done correctly because I can't in good conscience dump my mess on an unsuspecting buyer. I think it's time to move on to a different vehicle (hopefully a new TT AMG).

Run cost comparo on part out VS fix + sell.

Is it worth that much more running?

A crank swap would be the cheapest route. There's a place out your way that will fix your crank also and doesn't charge a bunch.

Edmunds will appraise with and without the repair. Unrepaired maybe $15K. Repaired maybe $20K.

You're saying an SL55 in good condition, running is worth 20K???

04 SL55 68K repaired clean title worth much more than $20K. At that mileage at least $30K.
