X-pipe eliminates exhaust drone?

I heard that muffler & resonator delete does not make any drone if I install an X-pipe.
Is it true?

Please, share your experience of eliminating drone with X-pipe.

Not true. The X-pipe purpose is to keep the left and right bank exhaust pulse in sync. In which helps with scavenging of dead bodies.

X pipe will quite the exhaust note, when compared to straight or H pipe.

Yes it will quiet it down, and actually helps eliminate drone...actually kustom had awful drone, we installed the x pipe all good and gave it a nice tone

Weird. Curious on how it would remove "drone"? True it would be changing the tone due to syncronizing the combustion pulse cycles on a true dual exhaust. *I guess it would depend where you place the x-pipe in relation to the location of the mufflers. I strongly doubt factory AMG mufflers will allow "drone", though.

*Mr OP said no mufflers. So I will stick to my original comment. X-pipe will not stop the "drone"

Thank you for your replies.

OK ... the conclusion is X-pipes don't eliminate drone completely but helps a little ... right?

Actually, I have stock exhaust system except Super sprint mufflers, which makes slight bearable drone. I prefer the following set up because I really want more sound.

Stock primary cats -> X-pipe (2nd cats delete) -> Straight pipes (resonator delete) -> Super sprint mufflers

But I don't want more drone ... so, I'm thinking of the following exhaust options.

1) Stock primary cats -> X-pipe (2nd cats delete) -> Stock resonator -> Super sprint mufflers

2) Stock primary cats -> 2nd cats -> X-pipe (resonator delete) -> Super sprint mufflers

What do you think about the above options?
Which option will make less drone? Comment please!

If OP has no mufflers, like me. Then to drastically, and I mean drastically, remove the drone you can replace the stock resonator with a borla pro xs muffler like I did. When I was all stock exhaust, I replaced the stock headers with the Kleeman headers and downpipe. There was drone from that, but it was minor/nominal and I loved the increased power from the kleeman.

I later deleted my mufflers. I loved the sound but their was alot of drone. I was ok with it but my wife did not. I then replaced the resonator with borla pro xs mufflers. The result is a perfect. There is nominal drone just like when I was all stock but with kleeman headers/downpips. I have the best of both worlds from his setup... nominal drone inside and great exhaust sound on the outside that I love to hear. Now my exhaust is: kleeman headers->kleeman downpipe (which deleted the primary cats) ->the stock secondary cats and stock H pipe exhaust setup down by the transmission-> borla pro xs mufflers-> stock exhaust tips.

Good luck OP.

Or can also go with the magnaflow x pipe resonator and that eliminates drone

Yes and here is the thread that I got the idea from, for using borla in place of resonator: https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...ed-clk500.html. If you feel, the drone is not lowered enough for you, you can add bullet like mufflers like that guy did in that thread... You can see it in his pics.

Thanks Hulk.

You mean Tru-X perforated core muffler?
http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...=main&id=10735

Is this correct size?
Otherwise please recommend correct size.

OK ... for now,

Borla ProXS dual-in/out muffler vs. Magnaflow Tru-X perforated core muffler.

Which one is better for eliminating drone?
Your thoughts please.

Man, I bet it sounds sweet. Borla makes a lower tone that is hard to beat.

I have Kleeman headers with no cats.....at all. Magnaflow x-pipe with resonator delete. In line dual 12" SS resonators to the factory mufflers. I've been buying my resonators from this guy out of Indiana for years.

Not much drone. Kinda Nascar, though. lol

No cats....mmmm..... Thats an ideas. I might replace the oem secondary cats and H set up down there with flex pipe, race cats and then meet up with my borla.

If the x pipe is on the stock piping it shouldn't be that expensive
It's when you have 3" custom piping where it can be time consuming to cut and fit and weld

I had a custom 3" H pipe made and recently changed to the x pipe much better for our platform

Very interested in knowing the difference you realized between the H and the X. Thanks.
