Great new guage for our E55's coming soon
I spoke to the owner of Aeroforce and he also has a E55. Well he developed a guage for the Mercedes. I first came across these in a lightning and the turbo neons. It can show fuel trims, air charge temps, spark many more too it will also record. The owner Todd informed me that he will be able to provide the amg logo on the guage. He has been using this guage in his car for a while now. Here is the website feel free to email him for more info looks like by the end of the week or so he will release this product.

I have a E55 and the gauge was designed on this car. There are two gauges available, one for engine parameters and one for transmission. These cars have two data buses, a fast CAN protocol for trans and the older slower ISO for engine.
I've attached the new user manual for these gauges. You don't need both if you're only interested in engine info for example. The trans is nice to have though. I installed a wideband sensor in the car and read it on the trans gauge because it updates up to 20x second. some extra info from todd

Why not just use your OBD2 datalogger and display on an iPod, iPhone, or iPad ? IMHO, most of the items need to be logged, so you can go back later and analyze. I do think alarms for certain conditions would be good though (i.e. IAT > X degrees, knock > Y, etc.)...

An iPhone in a phone cradle makes a nicer (larger) gauge, but I guess if you want the "racer" look installing a gauge would be fine....I reality, you really don't have time to look at gauges when you are driving hard, but I guess for certain items (e.g. IAT) it could be nice because you could easily tell if you have an issue (e.g. bad IC pump).
