Got the car put back together and....
I tried to start it and it took a few seconds for fuel to reach the rail again. But when it fired up, a lot of black sooty smoke came out of the exhaust for maybe 1 or 2 seconds, and then ran normal. But I have a question. I was filling up the oil, and stopped at a 5 quart jug, then tried to check via the cluster, and it keeps telling me to observe a waiting period. I have been waiting...
So. Two questions.
Was the black smoke coming from the exhaust normal? It just smelt like gas and oil.
And how much oil should I put in from 5 quarts? Or how long should I Observe a waiting period?

Nope, just black. It ran soooooo much smoother than normal. Most likely from the new plugs and voltage regulator.. Cant wait to drive it again!

Was running the car for a few minutes, and it was running so great. 14.5 Volts, no dimming, great throttle response from some revs, and then some white smoke started to come from the engine bay, on both sides near the middle of both valve covers. It almost smelt like burning plastic. The only thing I can think of is the paint on the valve covers. Any other thoughts?

You mean put back together as in motor? If you did any major engine worka nd had fuel rails, etc off, then a puff of black smoke can be normal. Depends what happend, what was in your cylinder, blower or exhaust system. Sounds like it cleared out fine.

I had the valve covers, and surge tanks off. I think the black smoke may have been the burned off PB blaster and WD40 spray I used on the old plugs. The ONLY things I changed were plugs, gaskets, and oil. I also painted the valve covers, surge tanks and airboxes with VHT paint. Could the smoke be coming from that even though it was high heat paint? Or maybe the anti seize compound on the plugs?

Thanks again Guys, I have found I am more, well, lets just say EXTREMELY paranoid about the car since this whole ordeal. I am sure it will wear off eventually, but in the mean time, I question every noise, smell, and vibration as if the car is exploding. LOL. Now I can get my new wheels installed tomorrow, and then wait for Blackstone to get back to me.

Will do. I am going to wash, clay, seal, and wax the car this weekend, and detail the interior. It feels like a new car now. But getting wheels, tires, plugs, etc.. Makes me believe, that this is in fact how it drove off the showroom floor. My love and passion for AMG is renewed.. Now I just have to get my Jerry tune going..

With the way it runs now, there is no way anything is wrong with it. I doubt I have internal issues, so I am going forward with the 63 conversion, and started off with a Jerry tune.. It's going to be like buying a new AMG, minus the ripped *******.
