CTS-V Possible Next car??
I know it's not a Merc but the prices are definitely right!! Just looking at a newer car for me in the next couple years and really couldn't afford to get into the new TT's. The NA W212 63's would be more in my price range but they just seem to be a bit lacking in performance and modding them is very expensive!! Saw a 2010 CTS-V with like 19xxx miles on it for 40K. The interiors don't look quite as nice, but the HP is huge!! I think a few on this forum own them, any reviews?? Don't get me wrong, I love my 55 but some of the features and styling are starting to be a little dated. Not getting rid of it anytime soon, especially with all the money I have into mods that I will never get back on resale!! Just bored and looking at other options in a reasonably priced 4 door MONSTER!!

Not a bad ride at all. A friend of mine picked up a 2011 coupe new and has done cam, upper and lower pulley, heat exchanger, ported stock blower, and a full exhaust and put down 645hp 672tq. Thing is a beast! Just waiting on him to blow up his stock clutch so I can keep up with him. I agree about the interior not being as nice, but for the power potential I could live with it.

I just picked up one in September not to long ago and the power potential and handling is great! I actually like the interior. It's not quite up to Audi standards, but it certainly does not feel cheap or second class to cars in it's class either. I find the interior design modern and the electronic materials and gadgets look good and work well.

In summary the interior feels more sporty with a touch of class ala a E92 BMW M3. It is not as elegant or luxurious as the E class AMGs, just sportier.

AMG E Power is right. On average these car put down about 450-475 rwhp and about the same torque stock depending on the transmission.
Bstudey01 a stock CTS-V will feel a little slower than your Stage 3-4 E55. It will not accelerate as violently as a pullied 55k in the lower rpms because of the huge torque deficiency, however the top end of the V makes up for the power deficiency and pulls strongly in the upper rpms. The V runs on average 11.9-12.3 @ 118mph. The V2 is faster than a stock E55, but it is not feel faster because it shifts smoother and the power delivery in more linear whereas the E55 is more raw in your face muscle car like in it's acceleration thanks to the engaging and disengaging clutch on the blower. I actually prefer the unrefined acceleration of the 55k lol. In my opinion the V2 feels like a 180mm pullied E55 in the midrange and the V2 has a very slight advantage in the upper rpms due to better gearing and supercharger cooling.
The V2 strength is the HUGE power gains for relatively low cost when modifying, superior engine reliability of the lsx engine platform, and the plethora of top notch quality tuners for the engines. No need to take chances will mail in tunes or downloading tunes from a laptop which is the norm unless you are fortunate to have your tuner on site when your car isoniazid the dyno. I have yet to read or hear about blown motor on this platform (I'm sure it has happened, but it is not very common) and you can get this car over 620 rwhp/rwtq for about $3000.00 and 550 rwhp for about $1100.00. From what i have seen 620 rwhp levels equal 10.8s at 127-29mph and 550rwhp usually equals 11.1-11.6 at 124mph a course on drag radials.
One other thing...this car likes to kick its back end out even at 60 mph with traction control fully on when going WOT and I'm stock. My 55 felt safer and the traction control seemed to keep things in check better.

Thank you Hotross for the good info!! Might go this weekend to test drive one. Crazy that I spent 3K on a set of headers and you can add 150HP to a V for that!!

People that talk about cheap interiors are doing that, just talking. I have had a few E55s and a CLS55 and the interior on my V is nicer then any of the 55s. The 55s are getting old and dated. Now......compared to a new 63, yes, that is a nicer interior and the new Audis are also nicer. But to say that an old a$$ 2003 E55 interior is nicer then a new V, is just smack talk. The car is super mod friendly and super cheap!!! That is the best part.

I'm with you on that. I see folks bringing up the superior Merc interior all the time. The interior in my E is beautiful and well kept no doubt, but m brother in law has an 09v with the stock recaros and top to bottom, there's nowhere it doesn't improve upon my car. The older GM stuff left much to be desired but the new caddies are a home run IMO

How is the gas mileage in them cruising on the highway? I remember the Z06 getting in the mid 20s, are the supercharged engines good on gas too if not ripping on it?
I have always liked the new Vs once they gave them some ***** and think the interior is nice too.

To those in the know, what are considered options on these? Is panoramic, rear backup, siruis, park assist standard?
Heres a black 09 too

bstudey01: You are very welcome and I'm glad I can help. I too spend close to $3000.00 for a set of American Racing Headers. Great headers, but definitely a lot of money considering I can buy the same headers for the V2 for about $1800.00. Also, the stock manifolds on these cars are very and not necessarily needed to make big power. In fact headers only yield about 20 rwhp. Headers are more of a necessity to scavenge heat if you do both upper and lower pulleys, but you can still make close to 600 rwhp with just upper and lower pulleys, cold air intake, upgraded injectors, and a dyno tune. You will be more impressed by the handling prowess rather then the stock power considering your E55 is stage 3. To me that makes the car way more fun to drive especially on winding roads. I'm just an average driver, but the V makes me feel like great driver lol. If you got mad skills you will whip this car like a E46 M3.
Emoving/Sir-Boost-a-Lot: I agree. The V2 interior is better than a E55, but not quite up to the German makes yet. However, the pop-up Nav, Recaro seats and overall design were nice upgrades for me. With that being said the E55 interior is still nice and I love the W211 AMG body exterior design. Especially the quad exhaust outlets which in my opinion looks better than the design over the W212 pipes. The new 2014 E63 pipes are boss though!

I do love the CTS-V also, they are beast and can be had for a fraction of the cost of a E63 2011+. But I still chose a C63 over the coupe and sedan.
C63 won me over because of..
+ Throttle Response
+ Handling
+ Exhaust sound
+ Interior
+ Solid feeling (not sure if thats a thing, but I felt too "loose" in the CTS-V)
Note : You can drop the thing off at D3 Tuning Program and spend about 7k and have an absolute MONSTER CTS-V....no denying that!
