E55 w/ goods, Z32 Project underway
Porterfield>Akebono>EBC Reds>OEM. All with new rotors.
EBC REDS-'New' formula so I was told.
'Noisy' as hell first 500 miles until the bedding process is complete. Quiet after.
Destroyed rotors. Hot spots, cracks, etc. Replaced after 10k miles or so. Google this.
Good high speed braking.
Similar to OEM cold braking.
Would not buy again
AKEBONO
Good overall pad
Very low dust
Less cold braking vs. OEM
Good high temp/speed braking
Little fade but still fade through a hard 40 mile canyon run.
Cheap to buy
Good on rotors
PORTERFIELD R4S
Best 'performance' pad period I have tested out of the 3.
Little noise breaking in but nowhere near the Reds. Quiet now with rare occasional squeal.
Low dust, but more than Akebonos. Still far less vs. OEM
Less cold braking vs. OEM and Akebono-tad
Never faded on me in hard canyon driving
$$$$$$$
Good on rotors, though might be a bit tougher than Akebonos.
My opinion.
With the other two options below, I would not run OEM or EBC Reds again. Once you have tried them below, you will understand.
For overall driving-no track, some canyon runs-Akebono, plus their cheap. Fade at the extreme.
For harder use and minor track and continued high speed braking. R4S Porterfields
FCP is a good shop, hunt around for the readily available 10% coupon codes.

I have EBC Reds. Works real well for my normal daily use, and very low dust. If you are concerned about dust, stay away from EBC yellow. As for Akebono, they are not made for our car.

They are fine, mind that I don't do a lot of hard braking or even racing, so my wear is just norm. Whats nice about the reds are they work great even cold. I'm sure you will see more wear with constant hard braking or if you track your car. But for normal use, I am sure it will last you awhile. My reason for getting them was for the low dust, and great all around braking.
