E63 with high mileage

I am currently thinking about getting a second car. I own 2010 Evo X and I am looking for 2008 E63. I am looking to spend 20,000-25,000. Can I find a decent car with that amount of money or I will have to get an 100k + miles?
How much should I expect to pay for the service? Anyone here had any problem with a high milage E63?
How much do you usually spend on your car service every year?

Dude there is this thing called autotrader and cars.com. all you have to do is search a wide are and look at the price range if what the vehicle sells for haha. Sorry just seems like a dumb question.

Sorry but seems you left all the questions. There is a big difference between what they ask and what you should pay. If you don't have anything to say please just say nothing.

Ooor you can search the mereceds vehicle classifieds and check out prices for ones that have mods and read the discussions in those threads. That will give you some good insight on what to pay for one with a bit of higher mileage. Always try to pay under of what kbb says.

Some in my area in that price range less than 100K miles.

I don't think you'll find an E63 in that price range unless it has a ton of miles... if I were you, I'd consider E55s as well. They're just as fast stock and with a few mods here and there you can get significant power gains because of the supercharger. You should easily be able to find one within the 20-25k price range. Good luck

I would (and did) personally choose a lower mile E55 rather than a higher mile E63

Stay far away... the 63 motors have had some head bolt issues and the general solution is to replace the whole motor. I would never want to purchase this car out of warranty with this many miles (and you won't be able to get one with that kind of mileage). Just pass on the E63 for now or wait until they come down in price.

Also, if your budget is tight, that is the wrong car to get regardless of the mileage. Replacement parts are still parts to a $100,000 car even if you bought a well worn one for 20k. It can cost you over $3,000 just in parts to do the brakes for example.

This isn't the type of car you look to buy for cheap. If you don't pay now you will end up paying later in maintenance and service costs. But if the mid $25k is your range then get an E55.

What you should pay is what you can afford. He's right though, autotrader and cars.com are the most common way.

I've decided to get an E55. What year model is the least known to have problems? What should I look for when I inspect a used car?Should I take it to a dealer?

Good move, I was reading this thread saying to myself, "This poor guy is gonna get tortured on some disaster e63" Someone mentioned the repairs on these cars and he was sooooo right. Maintainence will cost a few bucks alone as mentioned that these are $100k cars new. Find an E55 and enjoy. You will have some cash leftover for repairs because they ALL need something! Good luck

I hate buying used cars and when I heard about the motor I told my self stay the hell away from this car. I may even wait a year and lease a new c63.

The motor/tranny are the LEAST of your worries with a W211 E55.

You need to do some research before choosing as it sounds like you don't know what you're getting yourself into.

With only a $20-$25K (for an E55 and especially for an E63), budget, you're likely buying a repair/maint nightmare of a car. These were once $80-$110K cars brand new.

+1 this guy sounds like he will be in way over his head. These cars are a PITA and $$$ to maintain.

This is false. Updated head bolts , not a new motor.

I am in the process of searching for the same ehicle myself. The E63 headbolt issues is what has me leaning toward the E55. Still currently undecided. Good luck on ur search.
