Car Sounds Like A Dragster John Deere Lawnmower... =/
Hey all. My car is a 2006 with 73k miles and is stock with just a EC tune and for all intents and purposes, I don't drive ***** to the wall (all the time) and am not hard on my car. I live across the street from work and don't drive it too too much at all.
The other day I noticed what sounded like a small exhaust leak, mostly noticeable when driving along side a wall or through a drive through. Mostly audible at around 2500 RPMs. Anyway, today I was downshifting to slow down coming up to a light and whatever created the leak got louder and now it's just loud. My buddy and I are going to put it up on a lift tomorrow or Saturday here at work and try to get a better idea of where it's coming from. My question is basically whether or not there are seals on the exhaust or perhaps the manifolds
in particular that are known to go bad on these '06s/55 motors/cars?
I know that if it's up at the manifold it'll be a MFer and cost a bunch of money to replace/fix. Planned on eventually doing some headers but NOT right now so that kind of sucks. I'm hoping it will be somewhere else, but any input would be great. Thanks.

It takes about 30 mins to remove a exhaust manifold it is super easy. If it is cracked I would take up RBJ offer or if you are in a hurry you can take it to a muffler shop and they can weld it for you.
Also please check your motor mounts because if they are bad the engine will move more which results in cracking of the manifolds.

Engine mounts are a problem on these cars. My car had them replaced, twice, under warranty - thankfully, it hasn't happened since I've owned it.
Failed/Poor engine mounts + motor rock under slow/heavy load = cracked headers with a leak sound.

Well thanks guys that makes me feel better about the situation. And Sterling, man I'm all about that I just didn't have the $2000 readily available right this instant. I typically stash money away casually until I get enough for my next set of mods or guns, depending on which way I go lol
Anyone in the Phoenix area know a good exhaust shop? :p

Car is in the exhaust shop and it is a crack on the weld line of the right primary cat. Going to re-weld the cat, do an X pipe and resonator delete. $300.
Question though. That's nothing I would want to have EC re-tune anything for, is it?
Next upgrade is going to be new idler pulleys, and SC pulley so should I just wait?
