Coming to the U.S. this autumn, the S6 and S7 use an engine based on the V-8 that was first seen in the A8 last year. It's a very compact package, the turbos tucked in the engine's 90-degree vee with the exhaust ports in the heads' inside, the intakes on the outside. At 4.0 liters, the new direct-injected powerplant produces 420 bhp, with 406 lb-ft of torque on a plateau that stretches from 1400 to 5200 rpm.

You want me to believe a 420BHP 406lbft of TQ AWD car with a tune ran 11.7 1/4 mile? Considering a BiTurbo CLS63 with 600tq and over 560hp runs it 11.3-5 and doesnt have AWD.

Unless this tune give the AUDI 200hp and 200TQ I am not buying that quarter mile time. Was the DA -?

What makes you think I am married?(Not that it matters) I have built enough cars and watched enough 1/4 miles to know what a reasonable time is for a car with that power and weight with AWD. The time for that Audi with a Tune is not reasonable. That a 12.8 - 13.0 car on Chicago streets with a tune. There is NOS or Huge -DA for that car to run that time, based on my experiences.

I've been selling VWs for the last couple years and owned a few and think they're great freaking cars. Audis aren't glorified VWs. VWs are de-contented, scaled down Audis. It's not like you buying an Acura and getting Honduh junk, or Lexus Toyota. Those "high line" cars are ****ing Accords/Camrys with wood grain trim and crap spot seem welds and different looking wheels.

I'd drive a a TDI Lux Touareg as soon as I'd drive a Cayenne or a Q7.

Yeah considering the tune for this car make 124hp / 163tq I stand corrected maybe it can run 11.7

Those times are totally believable with a tune. I forget what mag it was (C&D or Motortrend), but they got the car to 12.1 or 12.3 at like 113 mph with a 0-60 in about 3.7-3.8 seconds. That engine is more like 470 crank horsepower. That motor is pretty stout and similiar to BMWs 550 4.4 biturbo. I don't know if this is true, but according to my friend who owns Audis said that the S8 and RS6/7 will share the same upgraded 4.0 TT motor. He also said that there is more than a tune difference between these motors such as better heads and more bigger turbos on the higher strung motor. I think Insideline put the S8 on the dyno (I think Dynojet), but not 100% sure and it put down around 470awhp with slightly lower awtq.

Sorry, I am old school, a brand isn't good because it can go out and assume other car brands. I am surprised you didn't mention the one brand VW does own that is excellent, Porsche. They did go out an buy it

Mercedes internally makes everything from Super Luxury Cars, Supercars, Average every day cars, Taxi cabs, Diesel Trucks, Semis, and earth movers (GM and Volvo are the only other brands that come close). VW had to buy brands to obtain those technologies (Scania). Mercedes is engineering excellence. Also none of the brands you mentioned above use Boron steel in their cars, only Mercedes and Volvo do for safety predictability.

The only VW my money will go for is a Porsche

My point is certain automakers are industry leaders for items such as safety (Audi and VW are the leaders and innovators of......Fancy headlights!). Good for Mazda to offer this steel in cars made after 2010, but also thank Mercedes and Volvo R&D for bringing it to market. Much like the now standard airbag introduced by Mercedes in 1981. I promise the amount being used in a Mazda 3 is nowhere near what is done with Volvo (XC90) and Mercedes (S-Class).

Its your money spend it how you want. On another note Mercedes does not patent all of their safety technology because they are interested in the safety of all when it comes to driving cars. Audi will never be a Mercedes Benz, nothing will be a Mercedes Benz.

Well I don't disagree with that statement, and with all due respect, I don't think you know enough about Volkswagen to say they lack in safety or safety standards. If you did, you wouldn't have made that statement. That is all.

Worth the wait

I have to say one of the regulars at my restaurant just got an S6. He knows about my affinity for AMG and what my car is capable of so he makes a point (in all good fun) of trying to park right in front.

I checked it out, and it is NICE!

Im trying to get him to MIR, where we trade off cars on the way there and make every attempt to get arrested

If I ever decide to sell the beast I am going to seriously consider a 2013+ S6, S8 or RS7.

Certainly a nice car! But something doesnt add up... 4200 lb car that make 420 hp and 400 lbs of torque...even with awd... Claims of 12.1 @115 stock! They must be under-rated..

VW/Audi is notoriously underrated. I mean a stock DSG GTI will do 5.9 0-60... A 200Hp FWD car... I love cars in general and can't really hate. I mean, VW has some quality brands/cars in their stable and are the number one auto manufacturer in the world. The 2013 Golf was just awarded the World Car of the Year.

The funny thing, I want it to be faster with the tune while we have one guy doubting what it did that is what seems to be extremely angry about it all for some reason.

You guys are missing something, it's not all about hp vs. weight and that's it.

First, to get it out of the way, VW/Audi is notorious for underrating their cars. A friend of mine bought a brand new GTI 2.0T ( rated at 200hp ) and he put 200hp...TO THE WHEELS STOCK.

But that's not all, the DSG transmision offers lightning quick shifts that make our "speedshift" trannys seem like crap and they also offer less drivetrain losses. Plus, they have short, closely spaced gearing and AWD. Its win-win everywhere you look.

Porsche's Panamera Turbo ( 500hp/4300lbs ) runs high 11's at over 118mph bone stock. But take a look at the gearing and it's insane. 1st gear alone is only like 25mph ( almost half the E55's ).

It's the beauty of having a badass drivetrain.

My opinion is you have a terrible opinion and/or are delusional

There is a reason they win Automobile of the year and are often on top for world winning interior as well. They make beautiful cars, my only gripe is that they need a little more power in each model line.

If I buy cars solely based on looks I would be buying Audi's all day long. They are simply beautiful.
