new supercharger clutch slipping wtf
been a week or so with the car back and the car is engaging so smooth,legit most of the times I worry the blower is not on and after a few wot runs tonight I can feel it slipping north of 3500 rpms in 3rd.
will it break in a grab better or will it get worse?I really don't want to take it back to the dealer but might have to.
Car is other wise running mint with the 82mm tb and no pending or faults in star using the quick test function.
also have a question about star,if we go into the ignition and set gas to 93 oct will that help us off boost power?I know with our tunes when we go wot its using the mapping on the tune but will adjusting oct in star help in regular driving and adjust off boost or open loop timing?

I've never heard or seen the clutch slip, if it's the belt slipping I would suggest a new belt or tensioner. With my old tensioner and belt I could smell it smoking under load at high RPM.

I will swap out the belt but it on there pretty good and feel nice and tight,I did smell something but it didn't smell exactly like rubber but could be my belt slipping

Do you know if they mic. out the gap and installed enough shims to match the factory gap spec? I'd have to go look it up but I think it's around .035-.045 or so.

I can almost live with it as the car is so damn smooth now and it only slips enough to barely notice.I can def feel it though and just knowing its slipping a little is driving me nuts.

Ill check in the morning and now that I think about it,the smell I smelled was like a metallic clutch smell,I hope its not smoked and now that I think about it it was slipping hard as I kept on seeing how bad the car felt and after I let it cool down for 30 min it felt ok.
The first thing I thought was my tranny being blown as it felt exactly like a manual car feels when its clutch slips a little but the power would surge with the revs and you could def tell power was not smooth

I remember playing around with the clutch gap a while back, and from what I remember, too small of a gap caused a noticeable slip of the clutch and too large caused a rough engagement. Definitely play around with the gap. Another thing to consider is the factory specified clearance is not always ideal, you might need to fine tune the clearance a little even if that means going outside the specs.
As for Ignition settings, the values are used to offset the timing for lower grade fuels. Base value being the highest possible, which is where it should be left.

also do you think the clutch will break in and get looser and is the reason its getting worse now?

I'm not sure how having too small of a gap could cause it to slip. When it's engaged the magnet pulls it to the hub, so starting to close to the hub shouldn't have any effect on it's holding power. Honestly I don't think being too far away would cause that either for the same reason. How old is the tensioner?

I'm not saying it can't be the shims, I just don't see how it could make the difference knowing how it works. Maybe somethings wrong with the electro magnet?

If its slipping you will notice that the black paint on the magnet will peel or chip off. Otherwise its likely your belt/tensioner. I'm pretty sure i have a photo of it. To measure the gap, just go to the auto parts store and get a set of feeler gauges. They are cheap at less than $10. The gap is .35 to .45mm I believe and it should be measured in 3 places to get an accurate measurement. If its within spec its probably something else. The ecu has a current limiter of about 5amps based on my trouble shooting in star. If you are too tight, then the clutch will suddenly let go and disengage because it will go high current. If you are too loose, it will slip since it won't provide enough clamping force.

Do you have a picture or write up at the places to check the gaps?I'm going to rule out the belt and tensioner as I wenta long time with no slip and the only variable that was chachanged was the new clutch and shims.

I will check it out tom and does anyone know where the supercharger is in star? I remember seeing it once and you could engage it at idle and wanted to see if it stored any faults.

Is this the stock sc pulley that is slipping which you got replaced under warranty?
Re-shim it and get it within spec and you will be fine.
in star go to the ecu and it is under actuations

When you guys say 0.45 your talking about in right? I just put like 4 gages together that put me around .066 and I still have a little wiggle room left.in mm its way over spec if you guys are talking mm
