'06 E55 Oil Level Sensor DIY

Anyone know of a prior post explaining how to change the oil level sensor? For the 2006 E55. Or could someone explain.

Thank You!

This place is a joke.
The sensor is mounted externally on the bottom of the pan. Remove engine underpanel. Drain the oil, take out 3 screws and replace it. Refill oil. Done.

It's VERY easy to do. Some have speculated you have to drop the oil pan, etc. which simply isn't so.

As GreaseMoney has stated, it's a 5 minute deal once you're under the car. I think the part even has the little rubber gasket already pre-installed.

I need to replace mine, but will try to do so without replacing the oil (as it was changed recently)...Hopefully I can swap the part w/o too much of a mess ...

Just did mine during routine oil change. Took an extra 5 minutes, no more "Oil Sensor Malfunction" BS message on the dash :-)

You will have a big mess if you do not drain the oil first. It will come rushing out of the sensor port when the sensor is removed. It will be easier to drain the oil first.
