2011 CTSV auto, 06 E55 white pano, 87 Grand national, 63 split window
Say it again becuz they dont hear u tho lol, Benz is a way better car overall even thought the ctsv may be a little faster and handle a little better, keep in mind that the 55k was made from 04-06 and the ctsv-2 started in 09. That being said Cadillac was smart enough to build the ctsv-2 to be better than that current year w211 (E63), the BMW E60 and the Audi RS6. I use the word "Better" loosely lol. I rather my 55k all day, its just an overall better car, not to mention its panty dropping points. #BenzLife #BenzLove

So BlueML: Great statement!

...and I will not dispute the handling of the CTS-V...my 2004 handled incredible! I didn't really try any handling on the new one I drove but if it is better (which we can all assume) then it must be even more incredible. I, for one, am not a handling guy so it is not a big deal for me. Don't care for turns!

I’m no AMG or Caddy nut hugger. With that being said, a CTS-V does not have the panache of an E55k, but it is in no way inferior to a W211. A W212 is a little better, but not a W211. The interior of a W211 is very nice and feels good, but I am not missing it one bit driving the Caddy. I think the basic difference on the inside is that the Mercedes has more of a luxurious feel and the Caddy has more of a sporty feel to it similar to driving a M3 with newer tech. Now a base CTS is inferior to base W211 or W212, but not a V. This will all change with the 2014 V-Sport that is about to hit the streets, but I digress.
The exterior is love me or hate me. I think those who hate it dislike it for one or both of these reasons:
1. It’s very angular.
2. It’s aggressively designed.
3. It’s an American brand. (Period)
If the same exact car was made by a European make like Audi or Maserati with the same exact design and specs sans the emblems a course I believe most people worldwide would view this car more favorably. It's similar to the way people currently view Hyundai vs. other brands. For similar money most would rather drive a less attractive vehicle than be seen in a Hyundai. The same outlook holds true for any American car that embark on territory traditionally dominated by the Europeans. We all know the historical reasons why so I will leave it at that.
Now overall, my CTS-V gets WAY more attention on the streets then my E55k ever did, but who cares. Justin simply wanted to hear our opinions of how we thought the E55k performed against the 2009-2014 CTS-V.
In closing, a V series Cadillac will never ever have the flair of an AMG or M, but a V is darn good cost effective alternative.

Stock for stock, the supercharged CTS-V is slightly faster than an E55. They are CONSISTENT high 11s/low 12s @117-118 cars. Of course, a novice driver is an exception, but the the CTS-V SHOULD be faster every time on stock cars. I am leaving factory freaks etc. out of the question, but this is the norm.
Anybody who argues otherwise is an AMG brand ***** or has never driven a V, or both.

Agreed, as evidenced by the panty dropper comments. I'm curious to know if anyone considers any American cars to be panty droppers?

I strongly strongly disagree . I've built countless pro-touring musclecars for both myself and others, and just about everytime I take one out, somebody drops a comment or comes to take a look. It's not so much the status of the car, most of them have no idea that they cost as much as a Gallardo or 430 Ferrari , it's just that everybody likes a clean classic and would like to go for a ride!

The next gen (V3) CTS has my attention. I am anxiously awaiting the CTS-V version, but for now, here's a badass rendering and some actual shots of the "regular V3 CTS:

I've just never seen a chick, who has the mindset at dropping her panties upon seeing a car they are impressed with, get excited over an old car. I imagine that the girls who drop toe floss over the sight of a car care about one thing....image, or rather brand recognition.
