05 E55 Wagon MBH LT Header install, SC Belt wrap kit, retune results
Well, my car turned the 100k mile mark and the cats started rattling, so I was FORCED to upgrade the cats to something better If you need new cats, that means you NEED new headers too right?
Also, my idler pulley bearings were starting to squeak too. So, I had to contact Shardul for a 4pc ASP pulley and SC belt wrap kit
I have always wanted a set of MBH long tubes, but found it extremely hard to justify spending $$$ for a set of headers. After considerable research, I narrowed the header purchase down to Kleeman, American Racing (ARH), and MBH/Dyno-Comp headers.
I was attracted by the Kleeman bang for the buck, but quickly found that after adding cats, mid-pipe, and the other odds and ends that I was not too far from spending MBH header type of money.
I considered the ARH headers after hearing many positive reviews from the Z06 community years ago, but found that many who installed them on E55's had fitment issues. I was not willing to go through any headaches dealing with less than perfect fit, especially since they are about as expensive as the MBH's
I called up Mike at MBH and ordered the headers and was told there was about a 2 week build time. About 4 weeks later they arrive. Thanks Mike for putting up with my phone calls and PM's looking for an update. The headers arrived and it was like Christmas morning. They are truly a work of art and it is too bad the only time they will be seen is when the car is on a lift
I have to thank Jason, Tony, and the rest of the crew at BIP for providing top notch work and customer service. They surpassed my expectations to say the least. I dropped the car off early one morning and they worked on the wagon all day installing the headers, belt wrap kit, and retuning the ECU.
My baseline dyno on the "heart breaker" Dyno Dynamics dyno in 12/11 was 358rwhp/435rwtq. https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...e-results.html
The BIP tune in 12/11 produced 32rwhp/35rwtq bumping me to 390rwhp/470rwtq
The addition of MBH long tubes, belt wrap kit, and retune boosted me to 451rwhp/508rwtq for a gain of 61rwhp/38rwtq over the BIP tune and 93rwhp/73rwtq over stock
At idle & cruising on the highway, it is almost impossible to tell the car does not have a stock exhaust system under it. Put your foot in the throttle, and the car really comes alive You can feel a bit more rumble from the headers at your feet as the car is finally able to exhale and breathe properly while the noise created gives you permagrin at the same time. I am not sure what the car sounds like from the outside (I will have to take some GoPro videos), but it is awesome from the driver's seat!
If you are on the fence about headers, contact MBH and ORDER THEM NOW!
Here is my stock to BIP tune graph in 12/11
Here is my updated graph with MBH headers, belt wrap kit, and retune
Here is my updated graph with MBH headers, belt wrap kit, and retune (including A/F ratio)
Once again, thanks to Shardul for the continued education on mods and for providing the ASP pulley and SC belt wrap kit. I am looking forward to the new clutchless SC pulley

Thank you to Mike at MBH for selling us a top notch set of headers that could double as artwork good enough to hang on any wall. https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...deal-date.html
And thanks again to Buckhead Imports Performance (BIP) for the exceptional service and expertise.

My best time at the strip is 12.40 at 112mph and my best 1/2 mile run was @138mph, I am looking forward to hopefully breaking into the 11's in the quarter mile and 140+mph in the 1/2 mile. Fingers crossed

Great review and beautiful Estate. Agree completely with your MBH header observations. You'll find you'll leave the radio off for a while and crack the windows to hear the note.

Nice. It's a pain to wait for status of the headers. But once they arrive, def worth the long wait. Def sounds stock until you step on it or from a start doesn't sound stock at all

Thanks for the props brotha. Your sled has such a simple combo but yet puts out healthy numbers.
The car holds power very well up top, I must say. No doubt she will deep into the 11's this fall

Do the wagons put down less HP than the sedans? 358 sounds awfully low (yes, granted, dynos are all different etc. but that seems very low, even for a heartbreaker - I put down 396 on a heartbreaker, and 428 on a dynojet).
Just curious if the wagons are detuned or have anything different than the sedans?
EDIT: Those headers are definitely awesome, the pictures look great but I bet they don't do them justice!

I put down 433RWHP/490RWTQ as a baseline on a dynojet pretty close to the same time I did the dyno dynamics baseline run too

Thanks Shardul for constantly educating us and producing excellent mods
I will strap the GoPro to the car and take some clips. That is if it ever stops raining here!
Thanks I look forward to hopefully bolting one of your SC kits to my car in the future

HAHA! Shawn! Its Amir. Long time no see brother! Looks we both left the Corvette and Audi game and ended up here with W211 AMG Street Brawlers.
