Modded E55: What do I need to make it healthy for long Autobahn runs?
Heres what the car currently has:
2005 E55, 86000 miles
-ASP 180MM crank pulley
-EC Heat Exhanger
-EC IC pump
-EC tuning
-VRP Shorty Heads
-Mid pipe w/cat and resonator delete
I spoke briefly with EC and at minimum he recomended injectors and also recomended a trunk tank to keep AIT's down. Honestly I'd like to take this car 180+ which means some looooooong full throttle pulls and it seems as tho heat and fuel will be my biggest obstacles. I want to use this car hard and i'm looking for pointers on supporting parts in effort to keep my new toy healthy. Once I get my fuel situation sorted, im leaning on the idea of high impedence bosch 550cc injectors, EC has agreed to help me get it ready via tune to compensate for the ****ty gas and long pulls. Some other considerations have been a lower T-stat and a fuel rail/modifications to the fuel rail.
I will say my pockets arent very deep so sticking to the basic and functional parts which do their job is fine with me, I dont need/want any shiny parts with bells, whistles or some kind of premium cause it has a well known name. Naturally, still want quality parts tho.
Any feedback is welcomed, links to parts with prices appreciated and all open discussion is encouraged. Im new to this car but not new to cars so please feel free to get as technical with your replies as you'd like. I have much to learn.
Thanks

Europe, especially where OP will be stationed get's unbearably cold the first week of September. It stays that way up until mid-late May. Why drop loot on something that he realistically wont "need" for 6 months.
Just sharing how I would do it. But what do I know, its not like I have 10 cousins living in Stuttgart.
OP, when you get out there, if you need anything MBZ related let me know. One of my cousins works at Mahle as a designer. He designs TB's and other components. I'm sure he will sort you out.

Cooling aside it seems like quite a few folks have had starvation issues on nice cool days. The heat soak issues I can take as they come but I have no intention of waiting for a fuel starve issue. With as much power as this car is already making, $500 for injectors and peace of mind ain't even a thing.
When it comes to use this car probly is pretty slick from light to light but I don't know how often you ran it over 150+ mph. The loads are tremendous. Fuel needs rise, temps rise, stress is high - all it takes is one lean event to toss a cylinder. It was a point Jerry brought up and echoed by the experiences of guys here who had big pulley, headers, HE and dumped cyl 8 at about 130mph. It's as simple as a plug/play part and some minor trimming from EC. No problem.
I know what you're saying tho man. Honestly, just want to keep her healthy.

I would do injectors regardless, but the nice thing about running water/meth is you end up with a much higher octane fuel and a lot of detonation suppression. If you have crappy gas running meth will really help.

With a 180 it doesn't matter what temps are, it will create heat. Water meth is the only way to cool long distance pulls like the OP is talking about. A sufficient HE and pump make a world of difference also. The KC is a NO GO for this type of driving.
