E55 Wagon
New member - Finally found a 06 E55 AMG wagon

Been lusting over the E55 wagon for years and finally found one. It is a 2006 with 53K on it and also has the Renntech package. Will take delivery of it in a week and will post pictures.

The previous owner was very meticulous and **** about the car and it is in a fantastic shape. I paid a bit more than I had planned but it is a keeper for me.

Do you gents know of a good company for extended warranty? Or should I not bother? I am a USAA member and they quoted me $5K for a 3 year extended warranty...Ouch!!

I paid $3700 for my 3yr/36k through USAA when I bought the car 3 years ago. They were just starting the extended warranty program at that time, and I know they lost money on my plan. I may have had a hand in screwing up the pricing for you.

That's pretty ******* funny though!

53k and extremely well maintained, I would easily roll the dice and toss the idea of warranty. Look at this way, assuming you will pay $4k for warranty, you will have $4k to use on 'warranty' stuff and it sounds like you aren't going to be killing this thing!

Good luck with the wagon, enjoy it!

This is the one at RUF Auto Centre in Carrollton, TX, yes? Lots of pictures here guys: http://inventory.racperformance.com/...Texas/1332815/

Are you local to DFW, or taking it to a new home?

Congrats on the purchase and I'm also a USAA member. I've owned my E55 for about 16 months and opted to roll the dice w/out warranty, although I've only put about 2,500 on it so far. Looking forward to some pics.

I'll keep an eye out for you around town. I have an obsidian black wagon on the north side of DFW.

Forgot to post my warranty experience. I bought my 2006 E55 wagon almost 2 years ago, also with 53K on it. Mine is a CPO car from RBM in Atlanta. I bought out the full MB CPO warranty, so 3 years of coverage.

The car has never been in the shop; I have never used the warranty.

I also had an '06 E55 sedan, purchased in 2009 with 30-something-K on it. It did require some work, but the only repair of significance was one leaking rear air strut.

On both cars, anyone who could do minor repairs (e.g. idler pulley) themselves and had a decent indy mechanic for more significant work would be dollars ahead without the warranty.
