Loud groan from steering when turning left, reservoir is full.
I had this happen once or twice a couple months back but it seems to be happening more often the last couple weeks. When I turn left, and only left just off center I get a groaning like sound for the first 1/4 turn of the wheel or so. Never turning right. The reservoir is full and I can't see anything obviously wrong when peeking around. Seems to happen after being parked or stopped and running for a while. Just hit 60K miles.
Is there anything common this may be? Hoping to pinpoint it and get it fixed before it develops into a real problem.

Try replacing the fluid. I replace PS fluid every 20K miles along with the transmission fluid. The stuff does break down over time.

i had that problem during the winter and the fluid was dark honey. When it should be a greenish/clear color. replaced the black reservoir that included filter and all is well. Had 65k on it when getting the noise.

replace the reservoir too.... i did it for a maintenance reason, because they have filters inside to that aren't replaceable and have to replace the whole reservoir

FYI the original ps fluid was yellow in color but MB "updated" the fluid to the pentosin chf11s to reduce noise (green color). The filter may be clogged as well. I would flush the system as best as possible with chf11s and replace the resivour as well.

I'll be picking up a new reservoir and fluid. Probably gonna look around to see if I can find the fluid online cheaper. Is the Pentosin backwards compatible with the old stuff? Being an 03 I'm guessing I have the old stuff.
