Cars trapping 120+MPH: inside!

I figure with all the variables behind dyno figures and ET's trap speed was the most reliable way to compare cars and their mods. In truth 120 traps are a goal for my car among others but if you have run this trap please share your mods at the time. If your mod list in your sig is accurate feel free to just say your trap speed and "hi".

Thanks for everyone's participation.

i was a hair off 119.9 stock pulley stock exhaust, tune and tires hope to gain from my new stall. My car will dyno on my dynojet around 460hp so that would equal my trap speed. Now just for conversation sakes i play with a nother dyno now as well a dyno dynamics and i would imagine i would prob make low 400's on that, but to would make sence becuase i trap 119.

To trap 120mph, all you really need is split cooling, good tune, and good trap conditions.

Agreed!

Cooling and a "good" tune goes a long way.

What about bench racers? I can bench trap well over 120.

I blame the hippies for not having a 1/4mi track anywhere near me.

This place is a joke.
I'd like to see approx. outside temps too, to keep things in perspective.

Anyone have a list of current 1/4 mile tracks in SoCal? All the searches I came up with are more than 3 years old, and most of the tracks are closed.

We should just do it like they do in New Orleans... find a secluded 2 lane road and go at it. Oh, but "Secluded" and SoCal" don't really go together.

You guys are lucky! It took LTs, 82, and a 185 to trap 120. I always thought my car was slow.

I thought I always noticed you had quick ET's with low(er) trap speeds...guess it wasn't my imagination.

It's all in the launch my friend. I've never had a 130 pass, but my ETs are lower than most that have. My tune just gets to rich up top. Don't get me wrong, it's Sinister out the hole.

Best 60ft. is 1.49. Otherwise it's 1.5xs all day. Light weight clk wheels with Hoosier DRs. Trans in comfort and raised and car in dyno mode.

Homey meant suspension in comfort mode, with tranny in M mode I believe don't let the vodka redbulls sneak up on you

Wow, those things grip well at that high pressure. I run my MT's around 16psi. I tried 14 once and the tire started slipping on the bead. It gets squirmy/scary at those low pressures. I think I'm going to try these Hoosiers next.

I drove to the track on my drag set up and forgot to drop the psi when I got there. but I just happen to be behind a pro mod that was going for the track record, so they prepped the Fing sh*t out of the track. I got a 1.60 60ft. (No diff) with 38psi.

Ha, I forgot to air down my tires last time I drove to the event and I was at 35 psi. I hit it on the third yellow and did a burnout halfway down the track.

And that's the story of how I lost to a 5.0 Mustang.
