Service D... Pay or DIY
My car is closing in on 80K and service D is coming up in about 3k miles, it doesnt seem like something that i need to pay anyone to do.. i can change filters.. oil.. Break fluid was just done 6k mi ago... Plugs i can do... is there any reason to pay to have this service done? Coming from BMW, their major service involved internal adjustments which i wasn't willing to experiment with..with the MB it just seems like a bunch of simple stuff. My trans service is due, i will pay for that only because i want to make sure its done properly.
Is there anything major that needs to be done at 80K that i haven't already mentioned?

That covers everything, I just finished collecting supplies to do it myself as well.
From my research on here, if you haven't had the transmission flushed on a regular basis there's most likely some gunk in the transmission that may become dislodged during the flush processes and cause you some trouble. I will be swapping the filter for a new one and doing a simple drain and refill.
$14.14 for the oem transmission filter and gasket. Best deal i've found!

I'd say if you're comfortable doing all that it's good, just be sure to have it logged at MBZ so it's in the system

Honestly all you need is a day free of beer or distractions. Everything maintenance wise is pretty straight forward. The only issue I had was the coolant temp sensor for the dash (tight space and a ***** to put back in). You can do the transmission flush yourself. Just make sure you have the dipstick tool so you dont burn your tranny out due to low fluid.

My cluster was acting up and the temperature was not coming up for some reason every once in a while so I changed it since I did the thermostat at the same time. I was unable to start the car if the temperature not coming up.

Yet another reason the E63 W211 should have its own section.
Yet another post which only applies to E55. The 722.9 tranny has no dip stick and is not designed to be flushed. Drain the pan, remove pan, change filter, replace pan level tube, replace pan, drain torque converter, refill through drain hole at 30C, let oil drain to set proper level, replace drain plug. This is the one service I pay for.

Also, does anyone know?
Under the DIY section there is no DIY for Brake fluid flush ? or Brake fluid only requires refilling as well and no need to flush ? If yes, you got instructions ?
What about DIY for transmission draining and refilling ?
When is one required to change coils as well ? same time as spark plugs ?

Well BMC's are out.. https://mbworld.org/forums/w212-amg/463542-nightmare-experience-bmc-air-filter.html
Think ill just go with k&n, I'm just not fond of oil filters.. I prefer dry filters.

This how I learned, you don't NEED a pressure bleeder but its the safest and fastest way.

As far as the trans flush, it's a pain in the ***.. It's worth paying for it.

Those poor E55 guys with SBC.
+1 on what you said on the break fluid flush. I have the pressure bleeder, just gotta find the time. I am overdue. EDIT: Just watched the video, very good. Thanks.
As for the Transmission DIY. Take a look in the W211 non-AMG section. It is there. You need at least an ODB-II reader to read the tranny temp, as well as the equipment to pump the fluid up into the drain plug.

Maybe with the e55 not the e63, all you need is a pressure bleeder and a catch bottle.. Takes 20min if you are competent, I did it in the parking lot at work.
