E55 Vs. 2013 Mustang GT 5.0

I was on my way to pick up the EC 180mm pulley kit that was bought from a member here.I was doing 60-70mph on Taconic parkway I see a nice 2013 Mustang GT 5.0 come besides me loud exhaust lowered to the floor. The car actually looked really nice for a mustang. He floors it, I reeled him in immediately by 145mph I pulled 5-6cars.Give me high beems and take the exit.I would really like to run a 2013 GT500 with some more mods that I plan to do.Stock GT500's do 12.0 at 120mph even though on dyno they put down 600whp on dyno.Any of you guys ran a 2013 GT500 ?

This place is a joke.
I haven't been beaten by a Mustang at the track yet..Yes there are fast ones out there but at the track you mostly never see them. I beat a couple year old GT500 on drag radials, a handful of I don't-know-whatstangs (I just can't keep up with all the different models, and they all look alike to me) and a newer 5.0 that I was told has a lot of work done to it..LOL....as we lined up the announcer said to watch this Mustang it's pretty fast, not a word about my 4 door Benz...This was my 11.75 pass and the 5.0 ran a low-mid 12, spinning a lot on drag radials but trapped a 119xx right with my 119.5... I could tell the guy was pissed as we stopped by the timing booth, he went and hot lapped again but that was my last run of the night. All the BS and all the dyno #'s are out the window, and the real world is at the track....All the HP in the world doesn't mean much if you can't put it to the ground. Something about our car's torque band, and traction once it hooks, beat a lot of higher HP and lighter cars at the track. At least that's been my experience. Roll racing on the highway is different though. For real though, for a TRUE street car that you could drive across country if you wanted, a modded E55 is quite impressive.

Try 11s with street tires at 128 MPH for the 2013s. 2012s were 120.

I wonder what the real world numbers are, accounting for the driver and weather conditions. Maybe I'll get lucky and see one at the track this winter.

Here's one running in S. Florida, real world.

I met a convertible 5.0 at a stop light, guy was probably early-mid 40's... car looked good and probably had a cat-back exhaust as it sounded pretty mean. As the light when green we both launched and after running to about 85 between lights I would say I probably had 3-3.5 cars on him. He could have spun a little, I don't know but that's my only experience with a 5.0.

That was my experience after building some wicked Stangs over the years...great on the dyno, sucked on the street/track. I would run any Stang that pulled up next to me, most will smoke the tires and sit there

Here is a good example GT500 . Same car , same driver, same track, same day. First time at track with street tires. 1st run 12.79@114.5 MPH VS 2nd run 12.15@123.8 MPH. Better driver would have gotten it well into 11s and trapped at least a few MPH more. Imagine what a good driver and DRs would do for those times. I imagine they could hit 10s bone stock. Most mags testing them had them trapping 126-128 MPH. So "real world" drivers can make any potentially fast car run mediocre times.

Looking into this lead me to a Vette Forum and I bone stock ZR1s are running 10.2s @135 MPH with DRs only ...... Damn .

On the subject of the Zr1's I don't know if there is a better car out there for the money, used. Recently saw one for 78k at a stealership with 10k miles on it. And as stated before 10.2's with Dr's... amazing
Moving to the '13 GT500's I was at the track watching two of them go at it...one posted a 13.1 and the other a 14.0.. Show's how much effect the driver has on those cars and preventing as much spinning as possible as well as launching them.

I ran one a few months ago. 2013 gt500. Multiple highway pulls from 40mph. Kid beat me everytime. He was a complete noob first stick car too. So yeh, even on the highway, stock gt500 is a monster. My car has 180mm, tune, and shorty headers.

I ran a 2014 GT from a dig in my E55. It had skinnies up front and drag radials on the back with aftermarket 16 or 17" wheels. It was auto and it had a tune and a few other things getting it ready for a turbo setup they were doing that I am not sure would help or hurt it in its current state when we ran. Those were a Boss 302 intake manifold, a different driveshaft and torque converter. The car ran 11.9@116 at the track a few weeks before we ran on the street and they said it dynode 390whp.

We were side by side until about 105 and then it went to my bumper at their door then at about 115-120 they were me at their rear bumper.

My car had nothing special going on, just like pictured in my sig with my 20" Vossens and both cars had a passenger. I had 2 GoPros in the back seat, not sure why we didn't set them up.

From what I've seen over at SVTPerformance most 5.0's with bolt on's like urbamworm stated such as boss manifold, tune, etc. are running low 12's some lucky ones at high 11's although as stated it doesn't matter much until you run them for real, anything could happen.

I have ran three different 5.0s with one being right on my bumper and the others being a car or more back. All were done from a 40 roll (passenger in my car) with similar mods for each (intake tune and exhaust). The driver definitely makes all the difference with these cars.

Nice kill. I'm from queens also! We're driving to Mexico Tom for some runs vs some modded e60 m5's, a tune/pulley V, a 498whp m6 tune/headers. Let me know if you're interested bro!

That'd be me!

Gonna be tough David without the drag radial in this weather. It spins badly at 40mph. Can't put the tire on till the next dyno tune. No excuses though...I'm ready. Like to do 50mph roll just to see pulling power to try and keep the spin to a minimum. Maybe I will bring a passenger to relieve it a little. I'm 275lbs but that just isn't enough!

Me vs a ZR1

On a side note, the auto 5.0's when setup right are deep into the 11's on svtperformance. Throw some sauce or a blower on there, or turbo and they are deep into the 10's. Best mustang motor ever made.

OP-
A 2013 GT500 that's properly driven is gonna beat you handily. With a mod or two, they're mid 10 sec cars @ 130+.

Earlier in this thread it says the ZR1's are going 10.20's and it seemed a little crazy...no 11.94 'bad' run is equating to 10.20's on DR's...and 126mph? Maybe I am still wrong but it seems a lil too fast! Same with the mustang...seems a bit too fast. I know they run pretty good now but the times mentioned earlier.

My neighbor has a modded ZR1 (don't know exactly what is done, but the car is definitely modded). He gets almost ZERO traction below 50mph , especially with the cooler weather, but with DRs, the car is downright nasty. I've seen his timeslips and with street tires, he is still hitting high 10s spinning a good bit down the track. He hasn't run with DRs, but I would guess 9s aren't difficult to achieve with a stellar launch. He has taken down well-ridden litre bikes.

I have only seen a few 13 GT500s at the track, most are hitting low 11s, but the mph is 125+ in stock trim. Drag racing isn't the easiest sport, especially when cars like these two have so much power and getting it to the ground can get tricky.

For instance, I'm the worst drag racer, you put me in the GT500 or ZR1 and I'll probably run 12s all day long haha.

Guys like 'Ranger' and some other Vette guys who are damn near professioal draggers can run abnormal times, but that is probably less than 1% of the Vette owners out there (Ranger took a stock C6 Z06 to 10.8s with street tires, for example). NOT COMMON THOUGH.

^^ Correct, and it was in a -1300 DA.

Copied from his Dragtimes listing:

Car is bone-stock except on these passes it wore DOT drag radial tires.

Other passes in the series were
10.85 129.21
10.87 130.09
10.81 130.39 then
10.74 129.50

Video of the 10.74 is here:

This guy here did a 10.98@128 bones stock with street tires though. But it was also at MIR in a -1250 DA.

Copied from his listing:

http://www.dragtimes.com/Chevrolet-C...lip-14084.html

Quickest Bone stock Z06 to date. Run done on stock radial street tires. Video shows a slightly quicker run that was done with drag radials.

Time recorded 11:52 AM
Temperature °F 45.0
Dew Point °F 12.0
Altimeter Setting 30.32 Inches Mercury
Absolute Pressure: 30.24 Inches
Density Altitude: -1253.7 feet
Track Elelvation: 80 feet

In any event, you get my point. Not every car/driver is going to be doing the same thing, especially at the track.

Most stick shift cars aren't driven good. At the track they can't launch good or they shift to early or they get all over the place shifting breaking it loose, etc.

For example, There isn't one single 09+ CTS-V in the 10s that is a manual but there are over 20 autos in the 10s (me being one of them) and even a handful in the 9s as well.
