Smaller 84mm SC Pulley Black Grease?
Hi, installed the 84mm smaller sc pulley. Has about 500 miles on it. Noticed this black grease that builds up. It feels kinda slippery and wet, see attached pictures. Was told it was just dirt, but a second opinion wouldn't hurt. Gets annoying that i have to clean it every week, given that i only drive the b*tch twice a week. Side note- the dirt/dust that builds up on my tensioner and idler pulleys actually look like dirt and are not greasy looking/feeling.
1-Did anyone else notice this on their smaller 84mm sc pulley?
2- What is it?
3- Is it normal?
4- Should i ask for a new replacement from my vendor?
Thanks for your time guys...

I have similar miles on mine and do not have any grease build up like that.
Initially, i saw a little bit of oil at the bottom of the bearing, but i think that was just the machine oil I used on the inner bearing wall when i installed it.
Did you use grease when you put the pulley on?

I may be mistaken, but im pretty sure that its not necesaraly a "seal" but more of just a dust cover and more of a "grease retianer" than a seal. Im not saying that this is normal, but I wouldnt be all too alarmed about it either. after all...that pulley is spinning more than twice as fast as the crank, so on a brand new pulley, there may be a little extra grease in there thats just finding its way out. My honest opintion would be to contact the vender you got the pulley from and send them the pics and see what they say.

definitely seems like the bearing is leaking - not crazy bad, but will eventually give out...
speaking of which, I need to check my blue bearing to see how its' doing after a week of driving
