FRONT TIRES WEARING OUT QUICKLY?!

I have 18k on fronts (Hankook Ventus V12 EVO) and a current inspection (by me) revealed that they are down to secondary rubber already on the inner portion of the tire closest to the engine!

Can you adjust alignment to slow down this process or is it the nature of the BEAST? lol

Thanks for the HELP Gents!

You seem to have a bit of a camber issue. Did you lower your car?

Or incorrect toe..... which is actually more brutal on tires. You are basically scrubbing them at an angle against the road, and it doesn't take long to chew up tires.

These cars are REALLY unforgiving when they are lowered by any significant amount. It is impossible to get the car back to factory alignment specs without either doing a set of "crash bolts" up front, or a more extensive solution like the K-MAC bushing sets which give you loads of adjustability.

If you car is still at stock ride height, it's most likely an alignment (or worn front-end component) issue....

ps. I'd kill to get 18,000 out of a set of tires.

Either a camber or toe issue. If you are lowered, then you cannot get the camber back within specs without an aftermarket solution. Toe can be fixed regardless.

You guys are crazy! I got 37,000+ out of my fronts (on the car when I bought it) and 36,000 out of my rears.

I did have the tires dismounted/switched and remounted once.

If you, at any time, changed your ride height (assuming toe was initially correct), then your toe is off. It's ideal to adjust the front toe in the suspension setting you will run most frequently (i.e, Comfort, Sport 1, Sport 2). There is no camber adjustment as GregMB noted, other than using OEM crash bolts or aftermarket eccentric bushings.

Gents - I am STAR lowered, I figured it was Camber or Toe. I just didn't know if I could adjust through some kit or alter the alignment to get more positive or negative to adjust for the lowering. If Im getting 18k maybe I should be thankful.... lol...

I run in Sport all the time. What about you G? Can you adjust Toe setting via STAR? I will ask my alignment guy if he can do this.....

i want to try the KMAC bushings.. anyone run successfully? I mean $450 sounds overpriced but if it doubles the life of $500 tires, pays for itself...

I wish I can get half that. I do launches without traction control for fun once in awhile. But, daaam. I don't see how that is possible on these cars.

I found that it doesn't matter how you drive. Unless you do burnouts all the time. It's the weight of the car, no matter what they will wear out quickly.

I zeroed my front toe in Sport 2 using toe plates and 2 good measuring tapes. Your alignment guy should be able to do this with no issue. Heck if you go to your alignment guy, you might as well do a 4-wheel alignment. How long ago (in miles) did you lower your ride height?

18k miles is good (assuming it's all lowered mileage)!

I've got a complete set (F & R) that will be installed in the spring when I finally have the patience and time to install them, set my new (lowered) ride height and figure out how to disable "speed sensitive lowering" in STAR/DAS. With all that sorted out I should be able to keep tires on it for more than 3000 - 5000 miles and have "the look" too....

AgSilver already runs the KMAC stuff and seems to have great luck with his...

An alignment is not adjustable via a computer program.

I was getting vibration on the steering wheel anything I went over 70 mph , when I got the car checked , it was the

front right being eaten up. Now it's so off that anything I go over that speed it'll just start vibrating.

I got the alignment done from MB and have the sheets and everything that it's done properly but I'm assuming that

the tire was out of balance before and alignment can't do anything now since the tire has already started to worn on the

inside. I also have 20mm spacers all around cuz of my rims.

So you might want to check if they have already have uneven wear ? any vibrations caused after a certain speed ?

Sport 1 & 2?! thought there was only C/S/M! My guy does 4 wheels regardless. Lowered car before this set of rubber was put on. I drive quite agressively so I guess I should be thankful, especially hearing that other only get 3-10k out of theres. Really like this tire regardless....

No vibrations to report, however there was a slight bit of difference in wear from the left to the right. The right was a little worse but that's an alignment issue as my car drifts right a tad. I run no spacers just stock 18's. GL

Sounds like just a "little" elbow grease will do the job.

C/S/M only adjusts the transmission shifts.
Comfort/SportI/SportII adjust the air suspension.
