Came out from the store today to find this lovely problem. Guess I'll be replacing a strut this week. Good thing Eurocharged is close, so I can just go pick one up and take my old core with me. That is, unless we can get front struts cheaper than $499 anywhere else?

The tow driver did an excellent job of getting me up onto and off the flatbed without scraping anything.

Damn. Did you try to start it to see if it raises? I just did full suspension on my g35x this week and it's a pain in the ***. Not looking forward to doing the E, left rear leaks a bit overnight but raises after starting.
Car looks good though!

Yeah, starts to raise and then sinks back down. I'm thinking the leak is in a fold of the bellow that seals when deflated and opens when pressure starts to build.

At least you know you're safe and wont need to get towed if your right side goes... i mean its a choice but most would say to do both

Same as my car at the moment. I am going Coilover route to finish this damn nightmare. This is the 3rd time I have failed airmatic. Just waiting for stock to arrive so I can order mine.

when I got my Denali Arnott shocks from them it was $50 core deposit

I paid them ~$335 (via paypal) which was the list price and when they received my old shocks they sent me $50 so net cost was ~$285
(which was less than 1/2 the dealer price)

if it's like my experience - it would be $899 up front and $400 returned - so $499 total

the listing says:

Other Important Information about the part in this listing:
THIS ITEM REQUIRES A $400.00 REFUNDABLE CORE DEPOSIT IN ADDITION TO THE PURCHASE PRICE ($200.00 PER STRUT).

so $899.95+ $400, then you get the $400 back later = $450 per side....

I got mine for $600 - 217.50 core refund at advanced auto = $382.50 per side and thats the cheapest i have seen

It is really not that hard to replace. If you have a friend to help you "stand" on the spindle to get the lower strut bolt in, it is easy breezy. I replaced mine in about 45 minutes. I also did only the side that went bad.

^ this... friend would of made it really easy, but i did mine myself and just used a 4 ft long pry bar to push the lower control arm down enough to get lower strut mount in

or you can just use DAS the deflate / compress the new air strut to shorten its length.

interesting - worded a bit differently from my purchase (GMC Denali)

THE SALES PRICE OF THIS ITEM INCLUDES A $50.00 REFUNDABLE CORE DEPOSIT. WE WILL REFUND $50.00 BACK TO YOU WHEN YOU RETURN YOUR OLD SHOCKS TO US.

When you return your old units to us, we refund your deposit. We pay for return shipping from within the US 48 states. We will include a prepaid UPS shipping label.

not sure how you can list on e-bay and charge more than the listing price...

Friend did the same thing on the Internet....advanced auto parts and I think the Internet code was p20 and might even be advertised at the top of the webpage. Then Friend went into advanced auto parts the store, with my core, and they gave him 200 bucks on the spot, didn't even have to wait! it shipped to his house with in two days.

So, I replaced my air strut and now I think the STAR lowering job in the front has reverted back to factory ride height. Is this normal when replacing a strut?
