Hello everyone I have a 03 E55 68000 miles I picked up for 13000. It didn't come with a manual and I wish I would have asked the person I bought it from more questions but after driving it I had to have it. Well now I'm asking myself what do all these buttons do. Mainly the buttons below the shifter looks like struts with 3 settings. Also I was under the hood and it said battery in trunk, so I look back there and find nothing. But there is a small battery that looks like a motorcycle battery under that box. Were is the main battery?

button on lower left - raises the car
button on lower middle - comfort mode, sport 1, and sport 2 (stiffer in sport 1 and stiffest in 2)
button on lower right - turns off proximity sensors - mine usually go off if in a car wash (LOL)

main battery is in the trunk, aux battery is where you found it (runs your braking system, and other important things)

Welcome and congrats on the good deal. If the previous owner didn't do the last service, or tend to the fuel filter, consider taking it to an Indy and having it replaced. Mercedes Benz recommends the fuel filter to be changed at 60k. Also that the trans fluid changed and serviced at 39k. Some of the maintenance can be done by you, if you're a decent wrench and can follow DIYs. Congrats and great steal....also early 03s had an issue of antifreeze leaking into trans, due to faulty radiator check it out or do a search but something you definitely wanna tend to before anything. Nice deal on the car! Do yourself a favor and read the manual. There are so many major and minor options in this car you won't believe it. I've had mine a few months now and I still find something new here and there.

I'm acually a helicopter mechanic so I know my way around a toolbox. And I enjoy working on my vehicles but I'm new Mercedes and just like all vehicles I'm sure they have their own quirks. So I really appreciate all the info so I can resolve the issues before they become a major problem. I did carfax it and the car had all the scheduled services done at the dealership However I am not sure on the fuel pump. I do plan on modding it. From what I've been reading I like the pulley and tune and maybe headers. The only problem I know on the car is that the panoramic roof doesn't open. I'm not looking forward to seeing how much that will cost to fix...
