PLEASE HELP! Car starts then idles low and shuts off!!
I am having issues with my car and I don't know what could be causing this. Hoping someone could help. I filled up last night. This morning I get in my car and start it. It started just fine without a hitch. I sat in my car for an hour talking on the phone and there were no issues. I shut it off. Half an hour later I turned the car back on and it barely wanted to start. It started but was idling around 300-400 RPM. It was fluttering between 0 and 400 once in a while then automatically shut off in about a minute. When I try to give it gas while idling low the car shuts off. I checked the gas cap and is on tight. I do have a check engine light that illuminated along with the slow start low idle. If anyone can give me an idea of what it could be I would really appreciate it!

shadul, The car was on for an hour on idle with no problems. I shut it off went up to my apartment, about half an hour later went back to my car, tried starting it and thats when the problem started happening. I can hear the engine cranking but I dont get that complete crank. Almost as if its not getting a complete full start. And it will stay on idle around 300-400 rpm for about 30 seconds then stall. I do have a check engine light accompanying the issue but I do not have a code reader.

Here is an update. I let the car sit for about an hour. Went ahead and tried starting the car. It started up just fine. No check engine light. So i put it in reverse and thought about driving around the block. About 100 feet into the road my check engine light came on but the car was driving fine. I felt a slight shake from the car. But that was momentarily. Then I kept driving and the check engine light went out. The car drove smooth. No shakes. no rattles. No noises of any sort. I drove around the block a couple of times and didnt feel anything out of place. No lights came on. Anyone have any idea what could have caused it?
I'm thinking it may have been because I let the car sit at idle for an hour which may have drained something?? and after I drove it around it may have recharged the system?? I have no idea. Id like to know in case of future issues so I know what to do.
