SBC Time- How is dealer on modded cars??? (Calif)

Got the dreaded: Brake Service - Visit Workshop warning. Star shows something along the line of: Brake component exceeded service life Cannot clear through star.

I know this is covered under a recall campaign, but I am curious how the dealer handles highly modded (Indy serviced) vehicles. Anyone have any comments good or bad? I plan to just take it in and cross my fingers. As they poke around, I'm sure they will be like: WTF.. Look, meth, bigger TB, Injectors, wheres the cats, oh, custom exhaust, lots of logging equipment... extra O2 sensors on both sides, oh, headers.. hmm..

No chance they would attempt to flash a stock tune I hope.. It wont work LOL

Any issues??

if you modified calipers or different brake lines, or anything related to the brakes, then I'd say they'll try to get out of it - otherwise, emissions, pullies, and headers don't impact brakes

I'm a dealer tech and MB or the dealer won't care about the mods as long as it doesn't make there jobs any harder. Get in the way, etc. As long as its service threshold reached, it should not be a problem getting it changed out. They won't touch the tune or anything like that. They will do a short test, test the sbc for updates and then probably replace it. Any coding will be sbc only.

FYI a test drive shouldn't be nessassary as long as they do all the pressure tests. If the insist on one, go with them. They'll probably want to test your mods, more than the brakes.

I have heard a rumor that all they do is reflash the SBC rather than replace it anyway. Be sure to ask them what they did afterwards ... I myself would be interested to know if they actually switch them out or just reflash. Maybe even take down serial number of your current unit just in case

Yah i used to work at a dealer in Encino CA so i can tell you that as long as the braking system hasnt been modified than the sbc shouldnt be an issue. For sbc threshold being reached all they are going to do is update software and scn code it. Unless there is a hard fault, like malfunction in pressure supply, or pressure reservoir fault, the dealer wont opt for replacement of sbc pump. GOOD LUCK!

Brakes have not been tampered with in any fashion- They are 100% stock. Should be cool. Thanks for all the info. I have dreaded going to a dealer do to my mods, and if they want to test drive, that's fine. Ill just ask to test drive one of the new AMG's while they are out running around

And I really don't have a lot of mods anyway

1900MM Pulley
Floored Fab headers with custom 3" collector
Custom 3" SS Exhaust w/ X-pipe (Resonator is still there)
CLS55 Mufflers (Installed yesterday)
550cc Injectors / Looped rail
82mm TB
Custom Y-Pipe (Intake)
Devils Own Methanol Injection
Trunk Tank with Rule2000
Meziere Pump
EC Heat Exchanger
Logging junk: Dashdaq/ZT-2 / ZT-3 and Phormula KS

Fixed pulley sitting on my desk....

Who is selling the 1900mm pulley? Do you have issues with hood, or ground clearance?
